Two of the Astra Militarum Warlord traits give the Voice of Command special rule if your Warlord doesn't already have it, allowing them to issue orders. Knowing that only AM units can roll on the table, who would actually get this rule? Units like Bullgryn/Ogryn that you make your Warlord?

I wanted to look at taking a Librarian and getting this Warlord trait so he could issue orders, but I remembered only AM units can roll on the AM table.

Since the only requirement to be the Warlord is to be a Character (if there's one in the army) or else any other model in the army there's plenty of models that could benefit.

Ghaz has it right, I'd just like to point out Lord Commissars as the best example. They have chain of command, but not voice of command. One of my group always goes that way with his army.

Keeping the hobby side alive!

I never forget the Dakka unit scale is binary: Units are either OP or Garbage.

iirc it actually tells you what to do in the warlord trait. I believe it says, if the unit does not have voice of command, it gains it. If it does have it, it can grant an additional order.

So if a priest or a psyker is your warlord, they would now be able to issue orders.

If your warlord is a Company Commander, he gains an additional order.

Just a tip, don't bother with regular commanders, unless you have a specific want of something. Go straight to the Cadia Supplement book, its formations bring Imperial Guard into 7th. Maybe not competitive, but the boons it grants are much welcomed. Such as all Company commanders can issue 3 orders at 24" range and roll 3d6 discard the highest die for order results. Plus a host of other formations and bonuses.
