This is the second book in the first trilogy of the Great Martian War. Learning from the failure of the first invasion in England, the Martians return in 1907 to find an Earth better prepared, but still terribly vulnerable. Book 1 dealt with the initial landings and first battles. Book 2 follows the war as both sides martial their forces for a great conflict. The stories are well researched in the world of the early 20th Century and include many historical figures like Teddy Roosevelt, Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla.
