Wrath of Magnus was a mixed bag for my old army. Pink Horrors lost Malefic Daemonology, but Blue Horrors are cheaper. Traitor Legions gave other Legions free VoTLW if they adhered to certain restrictions, but the only two Legions that can use varied Marks are Black Legion and Word Bearers. The BL Speartip has no Objective Secured however, so I ultimately decided to port my army over to Word Bearers instead.

Total: 1850

Note: Cultists are escorts for the Lord/Sorcerer at first. They're Fearless, and the HQs make them Obsec, grant them Crusader and Hatred vs Imperials. They have Fearless from their formation.

The earlier version of the list had dropped one Spawn and a bunch of Cultists for Blue Scribes. Somehow I feel this is more tenable as a list. I'd like to know your thoughts.

Looks fairly solid.

I mean.. crimson slaughter are still playable... But no.

As a standalone detachment, the hellcult works better as alpha legion. The cultists can infiltrate.(admittedly no help if you want them as bodyguards, but it is optional)

I would probably try and get back points on the tzeentch Lord, but I guess you've had good success with him?

Nurgle marking your spawn would be a good idea.

I've had good success with Scrolls, mostly as a backup psyker/unorthodox vector. I've contemplated replacing both the Familiar and Scrolls for the Script of Erebus, and downgrading to a Bike Lord but that's a little more boring IMO. It does free 55 points for stuff though, aka a 3rd unit of Blue Horrors or upgrades elsewhere.

The Cultists are mostly there as bodyguards. I'm using them as Word Bearers in case of future FAQs, and in case I get Voice of Lorgar so they can get Furious Charge.

Points for Nurgle Spawn are more awkward IMO, especially since I might want to hide the Tzeentch-Lord with them on occasion. Worth a thought either way.

Got to test the list against a DE player. His list had some quirks, but it was fairly solid. 3 Raider teams, 2 Warrior teams, 3 units of 3 Reaver, 2 Scourge units, a Razorwing, Voidraven, and Void Shield Generator and the game was Relic so it became a straight-up slugfest.

The VSG was a hassle, because of my relatively short range. The Cultists lasted long enough to tank for my Lord/Sorc, my Lord lucked on Scrolls and got Sunburst and proceeded to fry a good deal of his army...and I had to go after.

It was fun. I think the list is fairly solid, and with some more practice it will be even deadlier. I made a fair few mistakes but my foe did too, so it was a good learning experience.
