Hey folks,

I've been working on a 30K Iron Warriors army on and off since the release of BaC last year.

Since I have a terrible habit of leaving projects unfinished and amassing piles of grey plastic, I've decided to start this log in the hopes that it will motivate me to do some work on it every week.

I always loved the Iron Warriors ever since the 2nd edition release of the Chaos codex. It was always a tossup between them and Night Lords, in fact my 2 favorite CSM novels are Storm of Iron and Soul Hunter. In the end I went with the IVth Legion after doing a few test models of both paint schemes and deciding that I am absolute crap at painting lighting bolts.

So with that in mind I delved into the Iron Warriors rules for 30K and was really happy with what I saw. All of it gels with my play style; the focus on firepower, the overwhelming application of force to meet an objective, shrugging off casualties from shooting, losing 99% of my army in a game and claiming the moral victory of playing to the fluff

I'll be updating with progress and pics every weekend.

Here's the first pic, which is one of the more recent things I've finished for the army.

I was blown away when I saw that BaC came with a Contemptor and then totally disappointed with its lame pose. After a combination of careful clipping and precise cutting, I tore the legs up with my bare hands and did this to it:

Overall I'm pretty happy with it. I still want to go over and add some more details, maybe some pipes/cables like the FW Iron Warrior Contemptor. I'll be drilling the barrels out, I tend to accumulate a bunch of models then sit down and do this all in one fell swoop.

C&C is greatly appreciated.

Best,
MD

What's left of Cadia

That Dread is looking pretty good so far. Since I'm also contemplating a 30k army I'll be keeping an eye on this for inspiration if you don't mind

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."
Space Marine flyers are shaped for the greatest possible air resistance so that the air may never defeat the SPACE MARINES!
Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

Thanks man, by all means

Here's another quick update, trying to finish at least a playable force before I start painting.

Did another Contemptor up. I have to say I really like re-posing these guys.

I put this guy together to run as dual DCCWs, but somehow managed to lose one of the hands between Saturday and Sunday last week

Luckily I had a spare Space Wold Dread axe and Dreadknight hammer. I'll admit he came out a little World Eaters-ey:

Bonus, here is a Tactical Squad I also got finished:

Agreed on the chainsword - very tempted to pull that off for my own army! Looking very good!

Very nice. For the World Eater Contemptor you could try filling in the runes on the axe, and use some background to indicate that he is a veteran of the War Hounds.
