On their own. The maelstrom of gore in the butcher horde tho is pretty harsh. Automatically Appended Next Post: Add Brass Scorpion to LOW and blood slaughterers to Heavy.
But they can only be taken in a CAD, and WE CADs are .. wasteful. But still.

What's nice about the World Eaters rules for me is that they make great CAD allies for an army using one of the decurions, as it buffs regular CSM squads a lot and the CQC stuff can be great to support a more shooty army or to get some cheap(ish) troops.

One thing I'm looking forward to using is a Maelstrom combo'd with the raptor talon. I'm thinking 2x10 raptors with melta, Lord with LC/PF and talisman, attach him to warp talons as the #3 unit. Give the Zerkers in the Maelstrom rhinos with dirge casters if points allow.

I'm going to start a new army because of all this World Eaters buisness. I'm going to run 60 Berzerkers on foot in the Maelstrom of Gore formation, with a choppy lord of course. All the champs will have power axes and meltabombs, to threaten 2+ saves and walkers. And a Raptor Talon with 3x 5 man units with melta, and a Lord with the Berzerker's Glaive. That lord will have to deepstrike solo and go full bossmode on everyone. Even if he dies, he will have looked cool.
It probably won't win any tournaments, but it will look very World Eater-y, and will probably be a joy to play (at least when you don't face a Tau mecha-fest or an Eldar jetbike-fiesta).

I request this thread be renamed 'Your Chainaxe and how to swing it.'
But seriously, the Lord on a Juggernaut with spawn and that swanky amulet, running headlong into something that deserves an axe to the face.

So keep banging on about this on the forums but i think terminators became pretty neat with WE.
Fearless and FC makes a huge difference to them as does being obsec and their LR being obsec from the warband formation.
I'm rocking some with a lord with the Talisman for some hopeful first turn charge madness.
Unless you are running the MoG you are probably better off with normal marines now with 2x melta...
Bikes now seems like an auto include and really useful as you can use the models for a gorepack for KDK army
Berzerker glaive seems an epic choice for a daemon prince, he gets very expensive but ye looking at what 6+d6 s9 ap2 attacks on the charge! with feel no paint and iwd! all at I8!

The Berserker Glaive is a Daemon Weapon. Bloodfeeder isn't technically a Daemon Weapon, but has the 2D6 roll for attacks instead and Gorefather isn't one.

It is ! It's quite brutal on a DP. Less so on a Lord I think, but I do have a jugger Lord clearly already modelled with it. It's harshest critic is the axe of blind fury

Are flyer ace traits still a thing? A heldrake with lord of chaos could give relentless to units of obsec Chosen with plasmas. That would make WE chosen seriously scary. 5 S5 attacks each on the charge after unloading 5 plasma guns and fearless. And thanks to the butcher horde movement they might even be in rapid fire range on turn one. Just buy them a rhino to block LOS after shooting if they're not close enough to risk a charge.

World Eaters seem to be all about the 1st turn charge now. That Decurion bonus is so good! The army still has no resilience, so its like a glass close assault cannon. At least the fearless helps it stay the course.
I think the best way to play it is to overwhelm with bodies in close combat. But the issue with that may be how to handle vehicles and walkers, especially big nasty ones like imperial knights.
I was thinking it might make sense for WE to have two waves. A first one to soak up the bullets and get the opponent stuck in combat. And a second one that will finish the job. And add hellbrutes to this second wave.
Hellbrutes aren't going to get off their first turn charge, But they are pretty good now against imperial knights since both strike at i4 and the hellbrute now has a ton of attacks.
So, a first wave going in to tie things up, and then a second wave that is accompanied by hellbrutes going in after that to finish stuff off. How does that sound?

Yea i'v considered this approach one thing i'm thinking is a bit sneaky and is:
Helcult formation: helbrute + 2 units of cultists.
Its a separate CSM formation so run it as Alpha Legion! those cultists are now infiltrating and the formation makes them fearless .
200pts not a terrible speed bump / forward mobile cover / overwatch soakerupper

So how do you equip your standard CSM? Bolter, Boltpistol + CCW or both? I found both to be a quite expensive upgrade.

That plan has the same issue I had with the Gorepack: they get in the way of my turn one charge.
Thus far I've been able to turn one charge my Glaive DP, Biker+Juggerlord, and my Termies+Termie lord with talisman. Why give the talisman to a slower unit instead of the bikes? Because the fast units don't need it! It's ridiculously easy to get your fast units into combat turn one after the 2D6 move. Those rhinos are going to be left in the dust. Better to give them havoc launchers and other long range weaponry.
