Hey guys,

I've finished reading the kill team booklet from the official GW kill team box, with all the new rules and such. It has been my impression, through talking to various people that have been playing it quite a bit lately, that you're supposed to have a ton of terrain in a kill team match.

However, all I could find in the booklet was the mention for each mission to set up terrain as in the rulebook, and the rulebook essentially says "do what you want".

I remember 6th ed. had a 25% of the table space requirement for terrain (which would be ok considering the 4"x4" table), but I don't know of any such thing in 7th.

Again, I've only read through the official GW ruleset, and it's the one I'm most interested in (though I'd like to hear how other people run their KT tournaments terrain-wise as well).

So, can anyone direct me to a quote on how much terrain, and of what sort, should be used?

Thanks.

I don't know of any direct quotes, but the more I played it, I found more terrain made the game both more interesting and last longer.

I'd assume somewhere between Turkey Shoot (desert with sparse rocks) and Necromunda:

3000 pts
>1000 pts
:tyranid: <1500 pts

How do I own these?:
~2000 pts
~1000 pts

I recently played a small friendly tournament where each table had five terrains. Two small ones in each deployment zone, and one big building in the center. That way you can provide cover for melee lists so they don't get gunned down too quickly. But, the table was not very wide, it had a regular lenght but was only wide by the size of one panel IIRC. It was nice, fast and fun

Some of them might have previously played heralds of ruin (an independent kill team system) that recommends you use a lot of terrain and has special rules for climbing and jumping and falling. As far as I'm aware this is no rule for how much terrain the game should have, although I definitely recommend several LoS blockers, ruins spread fairly evenly.... avoid planet bowling ball at all costs, and give some love to armies that use melee without putting Trump's wall across the middle, of course. Playtest a bit and you'll likely be able to make a good decision.
