Hi there,

I'm sure I've browsed this forum countless times trying to get back into (and stay into) Warhammer, but one of the biggest blockers for me has always been painting... but I'll get to that later

I'm somewhere in my twenties, working as a Software Engineer for a busy company based somewhere in London. I happen to live a while away so spend a good few hours each day commuting. On top of that, I have 2 dogs, 2 rabbits, living with my fiancé, and our newborn baby boy! So life is pretty busy.

I got into Warhammer over a decade ago, but I've dropped in and out so frequently and never really stuck with it. (Mainly because I get so disheartened with my painting that I just can't be bothered to look at them anymore).

I picked up some Skaven about a year ago (took things much slower this time, only buying a couple of units) but they've been sat with a rudimentary paint job for a year or so now and a directionless me wondering if I should buy more for practice, or try to improve the current ones...

Anyhow, this time around I figured I'd try and get involved a bit with a community, maybe show my awful painting off, and try to learn and grow with others So I guess look out for some posts, and I hope everyone is looking forward to the festive season and (hopefully) some time off.

Well hello and welcome.

Don't worry about your painting. Keep doing it and you'll get better. Watch some of the Warhammer TV videos on YouTube, they're great for tips.

My big problem is not so much that I'm bad at painting, I'm just really slow and hardly ever manage to make time for it. I'm also flighty and flit from one squad to the next without ever getting anything completed. I actually finished a squad of Chaos Marines recently that have taken something like 4 years...

Welcome to Dakka! Hey we got people of all levels of painting skill here. As long as you're having a go at it, you're one of us! I'm a much better converter than painter, but no one here has ever made me feel discouraged. I look forward to seeing what you have!

Keeping the hobby side alive!

I never forget the Dakka unit scale is binary: Units are either OP or Garbage.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka
