I thought all the Aelves were nowhere to be found which is why Alarielle made her pod people the Slvyaneth..

Now there is the rebox of the Island of Blood high elves? How did they survive the ending of the old world?

If I remember correctly, at the end of the old world, Slaanesh gorged on too much elf souls that he got too bloated to fight properly. Sigmar somehow found and revived Tyrion and Teclis to bring the fight once again to Chaos, but those two went their own way and found Slaanesh unable to defend him/herself properly and forced some elf souls out, so I am guessing the elves are reborn into the new world of sorts.

I am assuming these old models are used to represent an entirely different set of elves than the ones from the old world.

Hmm, I blame myself for not putting that stuff in the AoS lore thread. -_- (I'm a horrible procrastinator and it's the holidays...)

Anyway, the key thing to know is that when the Old World ended it was stated that all souls, past and present, were at the mercy of the chaos gods.

So really it was that Slaanesh couldn't get all of them due to the multitude of elf souls from across the Old World's existence. These souls, along with many of the other races, were brought back by Sigmar and his pantheon and given flesh.

The problem was that the Aelven gods noticed that far fewer of their people were around than what should of been.

The Aelven people still populated the mortal realms, though. They built kingdoms, knightly orders, the Eldritch Council had soaring white towers across the realms, the Wanderers (wood elves) made homes in the Realm of life with Alarielle. The Exiles (dark elves) searched for the lord Malerion and served him once again but spread their dubious trades with the other mortals.(pirating, smuggling, cult magic, etc.)

Alarielle didn't make the Sylvaneth because the Aelves were gone but because the Wanderers abandoned the realm of life when chaos overwhelmed it. Leaving her, her anger and grief-filled heart and the Sylvaneth to fend for themselves.

Only after the reconquest of the realm of life from Nurgle's forces and renewed friendship with Sigmar has Alarielle begun to forgive the Wanderers.

During the time of chaos, when chaos overran the mortal realms, the Aelven people took refuge in Azyrheim with almost every other Order peoples.

There were those stuck in the mortal realms as well, though. Some Wanderers and High Aelf Order Draconis knights who survived on their own and did what they could to aid desperate allies until some hope could be found. Malerion and his Shadowkin reside in the realm of shadows and kill all who enter. (The Exiles are those unable to make it back to him and are forced to pay lip-service to Sigmar while in his realm)

The Aelves in the Spires set are the Swifthawk agents who are Aelves that serve Azyrheim as a powerful scout force.

In the age of Myth (before chaos invaded) their order served as messengers for the Aelf empires and built waytowers and fortresses on mountains and the undersides of floating continents. These fortifications were vital messenger posts for the mortal realms and are being restored now that the forces of Azyrheim are on the rise.

"By the light of dying lands, in skies aflame with the tears of stars, through maelstroms of keening souls the Swifthawk Agents fly, ride and run. We are the messengers of heaven, and as the light of Azyr reaches all realms, so too do our warriors roam in every land."

-Engraving upon the Eyrie of the Starhawk in Azyrheim.

Hope that helps!

The problem with that timeline is that Aelves were around before the coming of chaos and Teclis and Tyrion didn't abandon Sigmar to look for Slaanesh until after Tzeentch revealed it's location so the pantheon would split up and weaken.

So there were some Aelven souls not devoured by Slaanesh after the Old World's ending.

There's quite a bit of new elf fluff in the Grand Alliance: Order book if you can get your hands on it. They will probably get around to releasing new elf factions sooner or later, hopefully in the new year.
