Christmas is finally done and it's time to start building my Burning of Prospero models!
Anyway, a friend who plays Nids and Necrons has (after the obligatory ribbing about Space Wolves' hypocricy regarding Psykers) has decided to grumble about the Sisters of Silence being proper warp dampening 'Nulls' with in game rules while his Necrons and Nids, proper nulls and the supposed Shadow in the Warp have been left out to dry.

Anyway, the matter of contradictions popped up regarding access to the warp in fluff, on the tabletop and other bits of media.
Orkz came up as a subject - their weaponry works because they believe it should and they're believed to be latent psykers, yet their weapons work in the face of Necrons and Nids and they never Peril, Space Wolf Runes, Wards and Talismans that cause discomfort and even pain to Psykers don't bother them, or Rune Priests for that matter.
Are there any other races like the Orkz that are just sketchy when it comes to interactions with the Warp?

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

The thing is, when a psyker wants to use his powers, he's got to reach out to the warp to channel energy from it. Then the Shadow from the nids acts like a "roof" or a wall that prevents said psyker to reach the Warp.

While the Ork psychic field is established between all of them, creating a collective/gestalt force. It's not one individual trying to access the warp to influence reality, it's a multitude of beings linking themselves to influence the warp and reality. It cannot be cut off the same way. It is in essence closer from the Shadow in the Warp than it is from a psyker's powers.

To continue on this "shape" thing : Imagine the warp is the sky, the psyker is trying to reach it, and make it back on the ground. If the weather is clear it is an "easy" task for him. But if there are dark clouds or even a thunderstorm that hide the sky, it's not as easy to reach it, though still possible if the psyker is powerful enough (Tigurius managed to reach the Hive Mind consciousness through it). Now what the orks are doing is creating a huge sphere or dome around them that influences what is under said dome which happens to be so massive that it reaches the sky despite the thunderstorm.

That is how I see the relationship between these powers
