My brother in-law got x-wing for Christmas so we played a game and I enjoyed it, still need to figure out the specific tactics but was fun!
So today I went out and bought a protectorate starfighter (basically just thought it looked cool) but was wondering what I should buy next for a 100pt list that I'd like to build up?

Thanks for any help!

If you're jumping into scum, a good purchase is a JumpMaster 5000. Y-Wings are always a good staple to have, so you might want to invest in the Scum and Villainy "starter set" that is the Most Wanted box. From there... you can go pretty much anywhere, depending on your play style.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Oh, and unless you decide to go tourney-style, don't worry too much about having "ALL THE CARDS" and use a fleet builder. I tend to like Yet Another X-Wing Fleet Builder.

With Dengar (Form the JM5K) and Fenn Rau, you can pack quite a punch.

Or, you know, 2 JumpMasters, field Dengaroo and annoy the hell out of everyone.

Thanks for the tips! I was looking at picking up the Most Wanted set whenever they get it in stock at the local game store!

For now I came up with this list and will proxy in the models that my brother in law has. Just took the list from online, not familiar with the game enough yet but any tips on changing it up or if it is even good that'd be great!

Fen Ray (protectorate Starfighter) 34pts
Fearlessness, seismic torpedo, autothrusters, Concord dawn protector

Serissa (M3-A) 32pts
Adaptability, stealth device, heavy scyk interceptor, heavy laser canon

Talonbane Cobra (Kihraxz Fighter) 34pts
Predator, vectored thrusters, black market slicer tools

Seemed to do good for the guy who played the list, I also saw a list that used the most wanted box at 100pts and seemed okay, might be able to swap in the Starfighter tho

Errr...

Honest opinion: the M3-A is one of the most underwhelming ships of the game. You can get better mileage out of other purchases, this is more of a completionist thing, imho.

The Khiraxz can be ok, Talonbane is the standout of a lackluster ship expansion, it's essentially a poor man's T-65. Not a ringing endorsement. You have way better things to do with your actions than use BMST on Talonbane, however.

Anyone with enough gumption can be good with almost anything, but some battles are more uphill than others. That list would qualify, especially as a beginning player.

Ah okay that's good to know! Should I get the most wanted pack and use the z-95s instead.

Recommended loadouts for the Z-95s or the Y-wing? I'd like to use Starfighter as Fen Rau

I would definitely recommend getting the most wanted pack, not only for the ships but also for all the useful cards in it.

For running headhunters there are three widely used options;
With Black Market Slicer Tools.
With Feedback Array.
N'Dru with cluster missiles and guidance chips + extras.

For the Y-wing I only ever see the generic equipped with Twin Laser Turrets.

Some useful links if you haven't seen them;

(I really should just sig. them)

You should.

Ingtaer has the right of it, Z-95 are made to die, so might as well make them useful and cheap. The BMST swarm can be worrisome, and the Feedback Array also doesn't require arc, but the range is a bit closer.

N'Dru is a great fire and forget weapon, just remember to keep him a bit away from your other fighters.

The y-wing basic generic dude is great, a solid 8 hit points for relatively cheap, the TLT is a reliable weapon, and the Unhinged Astromech really turns a slow ship into a skittish target.

The Scum faction really shines with its big ships, though. They take a bit of getting used to, but their shenanigans factor is not to be undersold.

I'd avoid the Kihrazx, Scyk, and Star Viper for now. Unless you really like the ships for thier aesthetics, there is little reason to include them in a list.

All of the larger ships are reasonably good, including the Firespray (which has cards and a dial included in the Most Wanted set). I also really like the Misthunter, it looks great on the table, has a lot of fun upgrade options, and 4LOM + Zuckuss is a great combination for stress dealing.

Also, don't underestimate the HWK-290 (also in Most Wanted), it has some really cool options for Scum.

If you want to jump straight in, and spend a lot, then I guess Most Wanted is the most sensible place to start a Scum collection.

If you'd rather get a large ship to back up the Protectorate, then I would suggest either the Jumpmaster or Shadowcaster.

Or, if you'd prefer to start small, I think the Misthunter would be a nice second ship, as it has lots of cool options, such as Sensor and Crew upgrades, and it comes with stuff like the Tractor Beam, Cloaking Device, and built in stress control. So lots to play with there.

I love me some Shadowcaster. For realz. But it takes a bit of getting used to before you can really make it count. The learning curve is a little steeper than the JM5K.

Please note that for the M-3, errata has changed on the Heavy Syck (sp?) card so it also gives +1 Hull.

It never ends well

Oh yeah, how could we ever forget this. It also granted a nice 2 S-loop, right?

No?

Next please!

It does, but the errata only changes the scyk from "the clear worst ship in the game and you're committing suicide if you take it" to "not a good ship". It's still going to be a very rare sight at best in anything resembling a competitive environment.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.
