About to start painting my Thousand Sons that I just got and I really like the color scheme of this Coven, however, there's not much out there on how best to paint them. So I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about what paints to use.

The burning pits of Hades, also known as Sweden in summer

I have always loved white on Chaos; it is the main colour I chose for both my 40k CSM and 30k Word Bearers (!) for a number of reasons.

The main reason is that white serves as an excellent contrast for the dirt, blood and grime so often seen on CSM armour, making it stand out. While Thousand Sons often seem to be cleaner, this is by no means a rule, and definitely something I would consider making use of if you are painting them white anyway.

Examples, using the DoWII army painter:

Raving I was interested in this colour scheme when I found it on Lexicanum. I posted an image on my Instagram asking and I got two replies. One person said that they'd build up blue from white using washes and the other person said that silver with blue washes may work. One of my mates (who is an amazing painter) said that Etherium Blue could be useful as it is really really pale blue which is almost white.

Hope this helps and I hope that you post the results when you figure it out.

Thanks for the reply, I asked a the local shop owner that does commission painting, he suggested a base of Lothern Blue, and drybrush on Scar White, then trim in gold. I've done so far, it's not as great as what some others could do, but I like the results.

Not entirely on topic, but Glacier Serpents is a fething excellent name for a Chaos Warband and I wanted to just say that.

Great to hear that you atleast managed to get something started and your force will look a lot more unique to as it wont be that regal blue colour it'll be a lot of a nicer light blue

I've got some painted, work is killing too much of my painting time. I plan to base them with sand (fortunately my yard has plenty)
