So I have two Talos kits whose bits I plan on using for a converted Grotesque squad for my Dark Eldar. The main thing I need to decide first, though, is what to use as the basis for the Grotesque conversion. I've narrowed it down to two interesting ideas based on two different kits:

WRAITHGUARD- essentially, corrupted Wraithguard, with the Wraithbone shells cracked and fragmented, and their limbs replaced by wicked Haemonculi-made replacements. The overall idea is that the spirits within are being tormented by the process, and are essentially being controlled against their will. A big plus to this idea is that Wraithguard come in five per box, as opposed to the three per box of most Fantasy monsters, so I'd be able to create more Grotesques. The only issue I can see, though, is that I'm not sure that the Wraithguard bases are large enough, and also I'm not sure how converted Wraithguard would compare, size-wise, to Grotesque/Ogre/monstrous infantry equivalents.

KURNOTH HUNTERS- This could be one of two things, fluff-wise. Option one is that the Haemonculous has been dabbling with wraithbone experiments, and as a result has created some twisted Wraithbone monstrosities (which would allow me to be fairly inventive with their paint scheme). Option B is that the Haemonculous has been dabbling with plant life, a la Little Shop of Horrors, and has created these vegetable monstrosities as a result. The Kurnoth kits are awesome enough that I may keep a lot of their swords, etc, in addition to the claws and other spiky implements of the Taloi. My only concern, though, is how well they will connect to the Talos bits (particularly the heads).

Alternatively, I could go with a more "traditional-looking" route and use Crypt Horrors as the base for my Grotesques, which would still look fantastic. I have also contemplated Stormfiends, but a friend of mine has reported that the Stormfiends are so huge, they would be better off used as a basis for alternative Taloi.

Which of the above ideas do you like the most, or more importantly, would work the best as a conversion?

Kurnoth hunters or Spite Revenants would be awesome

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Both of those are great ideas, both from a fluff and a modelling perspective. From what I understand, all 3 models are roughly comparable in size so that should work perfectly too.

Unfortunately I don't have any experience with the Kurnoth Hunter kits (really must pick some of them up), but there's some really cool twisted Wraithguard conversions out there

I say Wraithguard or Crypt Flayers/Horrors.
I have a friend who uses the Horrors with Talos bits and they look perfect.

If money is no issue, the Horrors are bar-none the best option. If you wanna go a bit cheaper, WG are a sweet option (and as someone who doesn't play 'true' DE, it's what I would go with)
