What better way to start the year than also starting an army?



My haul over the holiday break from friends/family and it's already off to a quick begining



I guess I should look into airbrush primer now but it's already been a long day of building and spray cans have bit before (years and years ago though)

2 hardest things, picking a colour scheme and a name

Slow day today, having issues with this airbrush primer thing. Using the Vallejo surface primer but half the time it comes out nice and dry while the other half it comes out wet and slides off the model :(



Hopefully it doesn't take to long to paint up all these, sometimes I have impulse control issues and I'm pretty sure I'll need some more to play 1500pt games, a few smaller games should let me know what I'm lacking in.

Finished priming most of the rest, just the gargoyles left now, then I can start putting some colour down

Looking forward to seeing what you go with. My brother and I both just bought the Tyranid Swarm box to start a combined army.

Few days of no work, has a 4k game on the weekend (fielded my SoB), tried some vallejo paints but found the black to be very glossy and poor coverage so had to go back to GW (hate those pots so much) but I got 1 colour of half the army today. Should be able to get back into more painting though

Truthfully, you might have landed a bottle of black that had been on the shelf for a while. The dropper top can be pulled off, and you can get a piece of wire or something down inside to stir it up. If it's shelved too long, the paint settles itself out, it doesn't stay homogeneous like we'd hope. Citadel paints move quickly off the shelf, so you don't get this phenomenon, Especially prime colours like Black.

Now, the other alternative is that there are many people who Like citadel paints, but hate the pots, so they turn around, remove the cap and pour them into dropper bottles. Shouldn't be too hard to look up the how of the process.

Thanks for the suggestion, I gave it a go today and tried it on 4 termagants and it seems to behave much better now, guess I can continue with the other half of the army tomorrow.

Today however I just got some reds/flesh colours done, still need to clean up the whites, paint the eyes, and hen I can start washing

Holy moley dude you were able to paint up an entire army in like 10 days haha. Never in my life could i do that.

edit. Build and paint an entire army, I havent even built up one whole firewarrior that i got at the end of Dec haha

Not quite painted yet, still need to do the gargoyles (I hate priming) but today I got some more colour on the other half, just need to get the red on them to bring them up to the same point as the rest.



One day I'll get used to airbrush priming :(

You've smashed these out super quick! Loving your work

One suggestion for the primer/paints is to shake them like they owe you money. Helps keep the paint consistent

Finnally getting to a point with airbrush priming where it feels like i'm not failing, 15/20 gargoyles primed so far, then I can finish off the rest of the army while I wait for some GW flesh wash. Got colour on the rest of the models though, almost ready for some games to see what I need to buy next.

Looking very neat indeed. It's great to see a mob being worked on all at the same time.

So I was house-sitting for the last week and wasn't able to get any painting done, got the gargoyles to the coloured, now I just need to touch up some whites, wash them all, then base time.

So in other words you painted an entire army in 18 days and didn't paint for a week... I can barely paint one squad in 18 days...

I'd say there is still a week worth of work, eyes, bases, washes, feathering

there is plenty of highlights I could do but I'll just base then and move on for now. Then it's time to figure out what I need to buy next.
