Okay guys, so New Year has come and gone and as part of my New Years plan I've decided to start a new thread. Multiple reasons for it honestly, but mainly because after this last year I need a new start. Between seeing all the unfinished ideas I've had over the past years, incomplete projects, and my venting of life stuff that thread has just not been enjoyable for me to go searching back through for inspiration.
So for 2017 I need to have a focused plan of attack, so back to what I play the most of, Kings of War. I have plenty of models sitting around that can be an army in themselves, but there is one army that I've always wanted to do that keeps getting sidetracked, and that is an Asian themed fantasy army. Now being a stupid Gaijin(probably spelled wrong

), this will be a stupid Gaijin's idea of what an Asian themed army involves. It is not going to be a specifically Chinese, Japanese or Korean army, but a bastardization of all three and more.
Your input is definitely welcome
So on with the show.....
Yesterday I stopped off at Miniaturemarket and picked up the big piece of what I wanted to be a focus of the army. It is also my first Wyrd miniature that I have ever purchased, the Shadow Emissary.
He's the big lizard in the middle just in case you didn't know. To me Asian mythology wouldn't be the same without the all knowing and powerful dragons. Now I remember watching an actual documentary about Asian dragons that said the number of toes (claws) on the dragons showed their royal power. It said that a "common" dragon had three toes, a "powerful" dragon had 4 toes and the "emperor" dragon had 5 toes. The show also said in ancient times it was illegal for any but the emperors of china to have any carvings, paintings or drawings of dragons with 5 claws. Now this guy only has 3 toes and an opposable thumb which makes a total of 4 claws, so he must be powerful

. He also sits nicely on what I think is a 50mm base, which helps in kings of war as Large Cavalry should be on a 50mm base.
The army will be using the Elves rules as of right now, so this model will fill the Drakon Lord slot, though I am also looking at the Basilean army list as well.
The Shadow Emissary replaces the two arcane legion dragons I have which are also Asian themed.
I think the upright stance makes him look more majestic, but these guys will probably still fit into the army somewhere.
Also a a feature of the army will be various Asian figures I picked up over the years including these alkemy triad figures (one of the archers is standing next to the shadow Emissary for scale.
Also I have some really old Legend of the Five Rings metal Clan war samurai and war games factory (now warlord samurai) to help fill out the ranks.
I look forward to suggestions of what else I can add to the army, also other manufacturers (please send me links). I have plenty of fellow dakkadakka threads subscribed to use as reference, but any suggestions of good/motivational movies for this project will help as well. Preferably stuff available on netflix

.
More later, must go and get ready for work now.
For completion sake here's the link to the old thread, BEWARE ALL WHO ENTER
IT, THERE IS NO SANITY THERE EITHER.
