So the Murder Talon lets a Night Lord Player force turn 1 to automatically be Night Fight. Since models with Veterans of the Long War already get stealth, there's also a clause that all models in that detachment get +1 to cover saves on any turn when Night Fight is present.

I want to confirm, but would this mean a Vindicator or other vehicle that pops smoke on turn 1 would get 3+ cover moving into the open?

Noturnal warfare specifies Non-vehicles.

You will still get the stealth from night fight, but then so will your opponent.

Yes, the vehicle with the smoke would indeed get the 3+ however it'll be useful only if you go first due to the night fighting rules ending at the start of the 2ND turn. And even on the first turn it could be taken down to 4+ with searchtlights/night vision.

Also both would have stealth due to night fighting but night Lords ignore it with night vision

I'm curious why would say that unless you go first its not helpful? From my experience even if I'm playing guard, I love night fighting, regardless if I go first or not. The extra defensive bonus most of my infantry get is fantastic and its never a bad thing to have some cover saves on your tanks or artillery.

That's 2nd GAME TURN, not player turn

Murder Talon gives your detachment +1 cover as long as it is night time, vehicle's smoke launcher at night are +3 cover save IF you go first turn, if you get second you pop the smoke launchers but your opponent will shoot you at the start of the 2nd turn, no longer night fighting so no bonus from murder talon and since vehicles aren't VotLW no stealth so you get your usual +5 cover save. So the 3+ cover save for vehicles only work if you go first.

Smoke launchers are a 5+. Stealth from night fight is a +1 for a 4+. The detachment bonus Does Not Effect vehicles, so you won't be getting a 3+.
