So i just started out with warhammer not to long ago, and honestly the one thing i am loving the most about this hobby is the customization that can go into making an army. Ive started building and working with Tyranids and am loving everything about them. Ive put together a few models each one having my own personal flair to them. When i get a chance and some better lighting options ill put up some pictures. Long story short ive done something to at least each model to make it my own. Looking at the Lore and "Fluff" of the Tyranids ive decided to make my own Hive Fleet and am thinking of the name Chimera, Siren, or maybe Fae. And while i am sure some one out there has already named there own fleet this well at this point in the game i doubt ill find a name I'm happy with that's not taken. Then again who knows open to suggestions. So in short i want to ask if any one out there has any ideas for the following.

Other names for Hive fleet or hell a source of names of any number of mythical beasts, creatures of legend, or anything of the like
Painting tips: i want this to look good and well i am open to just about anything you can give me. I have some background with working with paint and color but am as stated new to this all. so ... help?
Lastly some ideas for paint schemes or ideas on how to put one together

Welcome to the hobby! You are on the right track in terms of Hive fleet names. Any large mythical beast should work, look up a list of Greek and roman legends if you need additional inspiration.

In terms of painting the first piece of advice I can give you is thin your paints. Multiple thin coats is the way to go. In terms of resources there are a ton out there. You tube has great tutorials and GW puts out painting videos multiple times a week. Search GW painting/Duncan for a ton of videos.

If you are doing a horde army, I'd suggest dipping your models. Like Army Painter quick shade:

Painting in Batches will help also, start with 3 and work up. I was painting 5 to 10 ork boys in about 20 min, then dipping them. I also tried using minwax wood stain works great too.
Spend the most time painting your favorite models.

As for the name, if you think or know who your opponents will prominently be, like Marines or IG you could choose something from Greek Mythology. If its space wolves it could be from Norse Mythology.
