I apologize ahead of time, don't have a good camera and a terrible setup for photos (I'll need to figure something out) but these are the first photos I've ever uploaded. I've improved a decent bit since I originally painted these about a year ago, finally worked up the courage to see what everyone else thinks of my mediocre paint jobs. I am thinking about adding some more highlighting, but I'm afraid I'll only make things worse.

What do you all think? I know I have plenty of room for improvement, any advice is welcome.

Nice job there. Your painting skills are better than mine, so I really can't critique. Only thing I can think of is on your Company Masters wings on the helmet, have a wash on it. Same for gold on the angel. Having a wash will make it pop out more and give it some shadow in the recesses.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Also, a tip I recommend for anyone who likes painting gold or brass or steel, etc.

Don't paint that colour on the actual model. Try doing black with a heavy drybrush of the metal you want (or at the very least apply a heavy wash like mentioned above) Metal painted objects really lack depth almost always, so washing or drybrushing it really helps with the depth.

Here's an example of what I mean - the guns on these Swooping Hawks were painted black and drybrushed with gold (a darker gold). See how the black underneath helps bring the gold out?

I'm just a speed painter, but there are tricks which can really help.

Never thought of that, I will have to keep that in mind Elbows, thank you for that tip.

Wow, I really do like that gold. I'll have to try it out, although I'm not painting much gold since I'm doing guard right now. Maybe switch back and finish up some of my countless unfinished company masters. I'd like to try it on my guardsmen's guns but I'm really sick of painting them and trying to rush them out to bare minimum tabletop quality before they make me hate painting. Oh, although I do try to make my scions nice, could try it on their bronze.

What wash would you guys recommend for the winged helmet white? I'm thinking sepia or agrax.

Try the nuln oil gloss on the wings. It's really fantastic stuff, the gloss medium minimises the oily residue and the wash runs into the recesses a lot better.
