Well for a bit of fun I made this list while designing my list for my next game.

Its an Iron Warriors Cad with an Iron warriors allied detachment.

CAD: 1450
HQ: Chaos Sorcerer (190pt.)
Frag grenades; Krak grenades; Bolt pistol; Force weapon; Fleshmetal exosceleton; Melta bombs; Sigil of corruption; Ichor blood; Spell familiar; Veterans of the Long War; Mastery level 3;

Troops: 6x 3 obbys
Veterans of the Long War;

Allied: 550
HQ: Chaos Sorcerer (130pt.)
Terminator armour; Combi-bolter; Force weapon; Melta bombs; Spell familiar; Veterans of the Long War; Mastery level 2;

Troops: 2x 3 obbys.

Probably going to go with Malific for my psyker abilities just for the extra foot troops.

Looks like a ton of fun, and Cursed Earth is your friend, for sure. I would probably drop a handful of oblits and replace one of the sorcerers with a Daemon Prince with Fleshmetal Exo - he won't perils on doubles, and provides some beef for dealing with str 8+ melee threats (anecdotally, I ran a similar list in a CadHammer-style tourney, with all IW oblits and a chaos termie lord...and I desperately needed something akin to a prince in two of my games).

Sidenote: if you have that many oblits, I recommend that you try out a maxed-out Death Guard Cult of Destruction - FNP and Fearless on Oblit spam is a marvelous thing and will vastly increase your mileage on them, even with the warpsmith tax.

Got a load of terminators/similar sized models I use as proxies at the moment. Its just a bit of a fun game, I might try the obbys on a different game as that would drop me down to 21.

This was mentioned in one of your other threads but just in case you didn't catch it, you can't have an "Allied Detachment" that is the same faction as your primary detachment. However, you ARE allowed to have more than one "Combined Arms Detachment," so if you write or type up the list, just call your "Allied Detachment" a "Combined Arms Detachment" instead.

I would certainly split the Oblits in the second CAD into single units. That will let you Deep Strike them a bit more effectively - smaller foot prints, more rolls for reserves. Not to mention, with ObSec, they become a nuisance on Objectives and can hurt anything that happens to be near them.

That would be a blast (Literally in some cases). VotlW will help a bit due to every Oblit going down forces a leadership check, so there's that. And 12 pairs fits nicely in 2 CADS without having to bring more HQ's. Good plan.
