I recently got four boxes of Skitarii, and was thinking about running them alongside Grey Knights from C:IA and Inquisitors. Is it a better idea to run the Skitarii with Cult Mechanicus? I know they get the Canticles, but the CM only seem to have one or two good units, and one formation which requires a Knight? What do you guys recommend?

It's worth using them together and that formation with the knight is also very nice. Maybe a bit strong though.

But, it's weird they didn't just put the two into one book instead of splitting them like they did.

And no HQ for the Skitarii is weird too. Is there any way to play them together without using the formation?

As two separate detachments I think.

Running them in the combined formation is always better it offers so much free stuff and special rules that it is silly.
Also the new book might help you even further with the new detachment.

You might want to convert admech a bit since not all of their mini's look as good as your skitarii stuff.

AH, not really worth it then cause the Skitarii won't count towards the Canticles outside that formation. That's cool, I want a Knight anyway hahaha

It's not weird, it's a cynical attempt to increase revenue by doubling the amount of literature required for a single faction. I sincerely hope Games Workshop refrains from this behavior in future.

Yeah, its a pretty blatant cash grab. I was not pleased seeing such a decision. Its almost as if the marketing department is still running GW.
