Subject: To Italian speakers, a request

Howdy, I'm looking to have some phrases translated into Italian to put on scrolls and banners. I didn't want to just run text through a translator, as I fear the translation might be too direct/literal. Any help is greatly appreciated!
"Death Eternal"
"By the Blood"
"In His Service"
"Glory to Sanguinius"

Do you mean Italian, or Latin? High Gothic, the partially made up 40k language, is based on Latin. And honestly, it doesn't really matter how accurate you are, because half of High Gothic is just made up words anyways. Adeptus, Mechanicus, and Hereticus are meant to sound Latin but are in no way Latin. Xenos is actually Greek. It would be perfectly fitting to use a Latin translator and be completely wrong in terms of grammar, or even just make stuff up that sounds remotely Latin.

I think he might be looking for Italian because Sanguinius and blood, but as mentioned above, it really doesn't matter, some of the fake latin in the 41st millenium is so dumb, and the other half is super silly and obvious (Ferrus Manus literally meaning iron hands).
The Italian might matter a bit more, but I doubt so.

I assumed sanguis, Latin for blood.

"Death Eternal" "Morte Eterna" "By the Blood" "Per il Sangue" "In His Service" "Al Suo Servizio" "Glory to Sanguinius" "Gloria a Sanguinius!" I can do more if you wish. I can elaborate less literal translations, too. I do not remember latin that well, but I can help. Also, "by" means a lot of things in English, if you are more specific in the meaning, can be very helpful.

Generic characters disappearing? Elite units of your army losing options and customizations? No longer finding that motivation to convert?

I'm italian, Kaiyanwang translated perfectly. Anyway the imperium doesn't speak italian, they use a sort of broken latin. There isn't a single word in italian in 40k.

Latin attempt - less sure "Death Eternal" "Mors Aeterna" "By the Blood" "A Sanguine" <--- but I need more context here "In His Service" "In Eius Servitio" "Glory to Sanguinius" "Gloria Sanguinio!" You could look around some latin motto, too. You could write IHSXP under an imperial eagle and say that means "In Hoc Signo Xenoes Purgo". Also, is not that important - albeit I appreciate verily the attempt - because even GW refuses to use proper latin. Astra Miltarum and Militarum Tempestus are, as an example completely wrong. Blackie is right about GW broken latin.

My suggestion would be to run them through an English to Latin translator then replace any words that don't sound cool with alternative tenses or with made up ones that do.
That should get you as close as possible to "proper" High Gothic.
E.g. replace mors aeterna with mortis aeternum. (mortis is actually esperanto but it's been used multiple times by GW and aeternum has more of that high gothic sound to it)

Hey thanks all for the translation help! Yes I'm well aware GW's attempt at a gothic language with a Latin base is...well subpar and downright amusing at times. I wanted to use some Italian because I love languages in general, and I thought it would be fun to switch things up a bit. I've noticed a lot of names in the Blood Angels roll are very Italian sounding, so I ran with that theme. Surely there's some very Germanic names among the Black Templars, and some Spanish-esque among the Crimson Fists, etc. I might have a few more phrases I could use translating, but for now I'm off to create some banners!

My wife, the Latin teacher, can attest to the broken, eye-roll worthy, Latin used in 40k!
