Hi
Saw this that was recently done with a 3d printer:
http://image.prntscr.com/image/540386ef44f741ebafcf1f89a4265d48.png
Obviously no where near GW standard, but its not bad (considering how I always assumed the quality would be). I could easily see this being used as a weathered statue. Automatically Appended Next Post: in the same vein I imagine you could use it to create ruined vehicles that have been sat there for some time

Sadly, found this uninteresting. Reinforced my belief that 3D printing being meaningful to*my* wargaming is still a long way off.

Got a busted dread, busted landraider, crashed flyers and I'm waiting on some shelled buildings.
The guy I'm getting it done by wants to do model quality, frankly I'm chuffed with my less than perfect terrain.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go. |

Yeah, that quality is just trash. I wouldn't put it on my table even as a terrain piece.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices. |

That guy looks worse than even the ugliest and least-detailed first edition sculpts, honestly. The lack of detail is massive and extremely noticeable.

Even the highest-end 3D printers that are being used to produce masters for mould making require lots of cleaning up.

Multi-material printers can avoid the need to clean up much.
Print the model in the preferred material, and the supports in something soluble. Dissolve the supports, and it's cleaned up straight away.
I have not tried a model like this yet, and am focusing on terrain at the moment. But I have the multi-material upgrade on order for a month or two.
