I usually run 6 thunderwolves and the wulfen murderpack (consisting in 2x5 wulfen) as they're my favourite units among my three armies, probably in the entire 40k world. So i thought about a list that is composed largely by these two units. Also beacuse sw shooting is terrible, my orks are much more efficient. Now i know this is a shooty edition and my attempt would not end in the most competitive sw list available, but i stay out of tournaments so i won't face the most competitive lists of the moment but still i can play against some challenging ones.
HQ
Wolf lord
- Thunderwolf, storm shield, Black death
(195 pts)
Troops:
5 Grey hunters
- Melta gun, pack leader with combi melta, drop pod
(135 pts)

Total 1849 pts
I may split the thunderwolves into three units of four. What do you think about this list? Any suggestions or critics would be appreciated, thanks.

Looks good. I think points wrong in stormshield, they are 15pts each, so those large cavarly packs should be 315pts each.
Imho, suggest take each TWC packs as 5 strong, reduce some points, save some points, change that blood claw into a larger pack of skyclaws, so as to make full use of the "buff of the Wulfen"

Thunderwolves cost 40 pts each so 40x6=240 points, 3 storm shields cost 45 points and a thunder hammer is 15. So total is 300 per the unit. Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately i don't own any skyclaws and they're a unit that i won't use very often, but i understand they can be useful as long as they benefit from the extra movement granted by wulfen. Also the blood claws unit is important to have 3 drop pods, if i drop them only one pod is coming turn one and i want as many distractions and melta shots i can possibly have in order to let my cavalry and wulfen run across the table more safely.

Ah ha, I think you might have looked at the points of Thurnder Hammer under the list of "Terminator weapons", which is budget of 15pts only. But the TWC only draw upgrades from "melee weapon" list, where Thurnder Hammer are 30pts TBH I really hope that their melee weapon can be discounted in points like 10pts shield and 15pts hammer , but rationale speaking, no, it make TWC too OP.
You might just take a fast attack droppod to let two of the GH ones drop in T1. Or, consider change all troops choices into blood claws, they each can take a melta at min number as well, while they themselves are also a significant threat when your wuflen moves into range T2. If opponent are too focus on the TWC, your blood claws would be dropping in T1, shoot meltas, then charge in T2 with the buff added.

I double checked and sadly those thunder hammers are 30 points instead of 15 so i'm 29 point over the limit. I see some options:
- Drop the thunder hammer in the unit joined by the wolf lord, as i already have his ap2 axe in that squad.
- Drop two storm shields and keep the thunder hammers, but i don't want to do this as those thunderwolves could be too fragile.
- Drop the entire unit of blood claws and keep only the empty drop pod. This allows me to have 36 spared points. I see two options: i can increase by one the two units of grey hunters and i take a wolfkin to join the lord or i can give the lord a runic armour and add another storm shield to one of the thunderwolves unit.
I'll probably drop a thunder hammer but i'm tempted to take an empty drop pod and add that runic armour and a storm shield.

Well, its a pretty straightforward army to play. Pick your target and then try to pick it apart.

Suggest you drop one naked TWC from each pack, 2 x 5 strong with 3 SS and 1 TH is strong enough. Use the 50 spare points to take a 20pts runic armor on the lord is good idea, then consider use the 30pts left to enlarge that Blood Claw pack if you can, I thing your wuflen buff on them would make them another threat.

I'm tempted about dropping the entire unit of blood claws and with those 35 points spared i would take a storm shield and the runic armour, but also splitting the thunderwolves into three units of four, one joined by the wolf lord. I really want all my 13 thunderwolves on the board Everything would on the board turn 1, the empty pod would land near an objective in my side if i need to get it, as all the army will come forward. 6 deadly close combat units plus two squads in drop pods as a distraction and maybe they can ruin a shooty unit or pop a vehicle.
Edit: if i split the thunderwolves intro 3 units and run an empty pod i'd take 4 fast attacks, so in case i really want to deploy 3 squads of thunderwolves i'd have to equip them with two storm shields each and just one unit with a thunder hammer.
