Ever since Traitor's Hate came out, I've been doing what I can to practice using a Warband. This list originally was a Black Crusade list, but Word Bearers rules and Blue Horrors made it easier to round off the army. Notes are below:

Total: 1850

The Lord joins one Helcult unit, the Sorcerer the other Helcult unit. This gives the HQs bullet-catchers, and makes the Cultists run faster from Crusader.

Lord took Scrolls of Magnus so he can be a "backup caster." This has won me the odd game now and then and it's my main "fun" option. The Marines took extra CCWs, as there are more likely than not going to be good buffs available to them. It's an "extra option" and I felt it more worthy than taking a few extra Cultists. The Bike Champs took Power Lances and Slaanesh Marks so they can reliably "hunt down" stranded Tacsquads.

I'm liking this overall. It's a fairly "all-rounder" list with a little bit of everything: Summoning, speed, and lots of small threats.

I think thats the first time I've ever seen power lances!! Right on!!
Seems a little light on the wounds with only 32 cultists, but you do have a decent amount of marines. I think you did a good job giving your opponent a lot of equally threatening targets.

This is just me being biased, but I hate Helbrutes with a passion. The multi-melta always misses! Always!!

One thing I am thinking of doing is:

Dropping a Horror unit.
Dropping the Disc from my Herald.

This gives 80 points. Those 80 points let me add 20 Cultists, 10 to each unit. Fearless Crusader Obsec Cultists.

On one hand, more Chaos Marine models, and they buff better. On the other hand, the Horrors are more resilient to shooting and it's more Warp Charge.

The Lord and Sorcerer both have ObSec and Crusader. Each one joins a different Cultist unit.

The other idea I was contemplating was:

-Drop the 2nd Horror unit and Disc of Tzeentch on the Herald
-Make the Cultists 21 models each.
-Give the Cultists some Flamers.
-Terminator Champions get Power Fists

I get to keep my Herald's Disc, and my Terminators can threaten the odd MC or vehicle in melee now.

So I'm now imagining this as the list:

Would it be an idea to bring a Daemon prince in there ? A DP with psyker level and malefic could be useful.

Problem is point cost. The cheapest ML 2 Daemon Prince is 205 points. This is before you give it armor, a spell familiar, wings, or the Malefic Tome. A ML 3 Daemon Prince of Nurgle with Familiar and Wings and Tome is 300 points!

The Sorcerer is 180 points (190 with Tome) for the same number of wounds, and can hide in a unit.

Agreed. 21 Cultists means double-flamers, and Blessing them is that much more attractive a prospect.
