I'm Playing dark angels and thinking of getting some assault marines, aside from the backpacks I can give the argent an ivicerator and 2 other models flamers or plasma pistols.

I don’t know how different DA are from vanilla...

I run my assault marines as a 5 man squad, 2xFlamers, veteran sarge with a bolt pistol and a power weapon.

Melta bomb if I have 5 points to spare.

The evicerator seems very pricy, but is kinda nasty. If I was less stingy with the upgrades, it might be worth it.

Plasma pistols are comically overpriced.

Plasma Pistols are a purely fun upgrade - they are way too expensive to be competitive but you are playing Dark Angels so the more Plasma the better, right?

Melta Bombs are definitely a nice grab in case you ever need to charge a Dreadnought or MC - and a lot more efficient than the Eviscerator, which is a very expensive upgrade. But generally people will take two Flamers and either a Combi-Flamer or Power Sword and use them to clear infantry - it's fun to play and very points efficient.

Generally they also stay at minimum size to get the most efficiency out of their special weapons, but taking ten men is always fun (though again, not competitive).

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

Bounding Dark Angels Assault Marine

For me, the best load out for an assault squad is 2 x Flamers, with a combi-flamer on the sarge if I have the points, in a drop pod. I usually run them in a Lion's Blade for the free pod. DA aren't very good at close combat and any time i've ran them with Jump Packs they usually get shot up before they can really do anything.

Dark Angels - 8000
Blood Angels - 4000
Astra Militarum - 2000
