I have been into the hobby for many years. I used to play fantasy in my teens (now 24) but then i chose to hide my interest in the hobby as it wasnt "cool" something I hugely regret now. Consequently I don't have any friends even slightly interested in tabletop gaming!

I really want to start playing again as I've collected numerous armies but haven't played a game with any of them.

What's the best way to get a few games under my belt whilst finding people to game with? I know I can go into a GW when they're having gaming evenings etc but do they tolerate beginners well? I don't want to ruin someone's game time by spending the whole game with my nose buried in the rules.

Any advice would be great and just a discussion with other 40k fanatics would be fun so thank you in advance.

(Apologies if this is in the wrong section)

Welcome to Dakka. Plenty of people to talk to hear. You might take your army list to the tactics section, or simply bring up some of your ideas in the discussion area. I am fortunate enough to have my own group, so can't help you much on that. Maybe just show up and watch a few games and figure out which players at your local store seem most helpful. Usually there's someone around willing to grow the hobby and encourage.

Keeping the hobby side alive!

I never forget the Dakka unit scale is binary: Units are either OP or Garbage.

Im in a similar situation as i live in a regional town of australia. Closest GW store is over 400km away and the local gaming shop that hosted events shut town. I dont know many people that play as i just got back into it but. What i suggest is just going into the GW store and asking the staff about any beginner events or game match ups. If you are up to it you could also just ask people at events if they were interested in rookie games outside of events at the store.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka
