I saved up enough money, and I narrowed it down to these armies. I am looking for one with good fluff, but can win games.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
It seems I put valhallan ice warriors as the title of the poll.. But they are an option.

Rule of cool my dude, go with what you think is the best. OR do what i would do.

You have what 6 choices? im assuming Ice warriors was menat to be a choice.

assign each one a number then roll a die, but dont look at it right away, the first number you hope pops up is the one you pick.

To many unpainted models to count.

#1 I would say: which army can you look at the models for hours on end as you pretty them up?
#2 Is both present and traditional game-play of each army suiting you play style.
#3 To "win games" you will need to look at present meta, Eldar is a leader in this regard.
Rules can vary wildly every couple of years (BRB / Codex / Formations) so the "competitiveness" is a partial consideration.
The above in order is probably the best means of ensuring you get the most enjoyment from the 40k experience.

Rubric Marines all the way. Magnus is so cool.

I will ultimately get this: https://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Thousand-Sons-New-Releases-ENG

I voted eldar because they have cool fluff and good builds, also they have been good in just about every edition, so they are a very safe choice.

Constantly being negative doesn't make you seem erudite, it just makes you look like a curmudgeon.

Which army do you see yourself collecting? Which armies background do you enjoy more?

There's your answer.

Out of that list I'd go for the Valhallans, I just really like their fluff/models and it's a more unique/rare army.

Eldar are power, have TONS of creativity with painting choices of the different aspects, but suffer from those aspects having old sculpts. Magnus is an awesome model and would be great to throw down. I'd recommend either of those two; TSons or Eldar. Both have power, and both have awesome painting options.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Voted rubric. Seems like they'd be relatively cheaper than the other options. Could be wrong. They look really pretty all painted up.

What should I look into to start an Eldar army?

That depends entirely on what you want out of the game. Do you want to be super competitive? Do you want to have a good time with a fluffy list? What do you want to focus on? Wraiths, bikes, aspect warriors, psychic, those are the focuses of the four main craftworlds, obviously you can mix and match if you want to too.

That being said the start collecting box is a good start to most eldar armies. A farseer will be your HQ in the majority of games, I usually field at least 2. The bikes are really good for their points and if you are being competitive you can kit them out with scatter lasers and make one of the best units in the game.

Edit: Also the codex will help a lot obviously.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?
