Well I've finally gone and done it!

After the gentle (but persistent) efforts of a few friends I've finally succumbed and dived in.

I was lured in by the fantastic silver tower (the original warhammer quest was a childhood favourite) and quickly picked up both the hero packs, the lord of plagues, and all the exotic adversaries!

And then the whispers in my ears started... and now before I've even painted a quarter of the silver tower models I've been talked in to jumping in to 40k! Whilst I'm holding off buying the rules given the pending rumoured 8th edition I've picked up a small number of marines to get myself started! (Just two weeks after picking up silver tower. Yes, I know, I have a problem!)

I've gone with the start collecting and two of the skyhammer tactical squad and I'll grab a bit more when I sell up some other games I no longer play.

So I look forward to many many months of fun and games ahead!!!

Welcome to Dakka!

You chose a good army in SM. I would recommend not buying anything else for the time being though and finish painting what you have. Otherwise you end up with a huge backlog that you never complete (which is why I'm selling everything and starting over) XD

As a side note, the boys in blue (Ultramarines) are pretty common, so be one of the cool kids on the block and...choose another chapter

Weclome!

Yes, beware of backlogs. They can overwhelm and cause despair in a way that would seem beyond the powers of tiny plastic people.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

Oh I'm going ultramarines for my primary/quick to finish force. Simultaneously (or after a bit anyway) I'm going to start building up a secondary chapter who are going to be a real labour of love. And having come across them in my quick scans of the fluff I've fallen for the celestial lions for this chapter. Over time (once my painting and modelling skills improve through practicing on the ultramarines) I plan on modelling the entire chapter, all 96 of them!

I came to ultramarines as I wanted a first founding chapter who's primarch was either alive/in stasis/Mia. And I wasn't a fan of the wolves, white scars or ravens guard. I'm also not a fan of yellow so that ruled the fists out.... whilst I liked a lot of the salamanders stuff, I'm not keen on flamer use. And one of my friends/gaming group already has a substantial dark angels army.... so yeah, almost by default I land back at the ultramarines. Although as I say I already love the lions but know as someone who's never held a paint brush before or built a model pre silver tower, that I'll need some practice painting and modelling to even come close to doing the lions justice (or even achieve a standard I can just tolerate!)
