Hey folks, I'm a very new player and I'm having trouble making a list of units that work well together and I feel i'm almost just jigsaw piecing my army together at this point. Could use some help with direction.

At the moment I have a Battle demi company which includes:

A chapter master

Assault squad (2 flamer) serg has a lightning claw

Devastator squad (I can run it 4 lascannons or 4 plasmacannons)

25 tactical marines split 10-10-5

a rhino for one of the tactical squads

and a dreadnought

I then have the Ravenwing formation which includes:

6 ravenwing bikes
an attack bike

a landspeeder

Then my deathwing formation with

6 terminators
and a company master

then my librarian conclave which includes:

Ezekiel and 2 psychers on bikes.

I play against eldar, tyranid and vanilla SM.

Any chance I can get some advice on what to get next and where I can go to sort of get some more synergy and niche down. I prefer using the ravenwing to deathwing but that might just be the colour scheme

thanks

You definitely want a chaplain and another assault squad to start with. That gives you the components for two demi companies, unlocking free Razorbacks, drop pods and rhinos. A few more land speeders and a darkshroud is also advisable as the ravenwing support squadron is probably our most powerful formation

I would drop the Deathwing all together or the ravenwing duel wing works but triple wing to many points to sink in

What size are the assault and devastator squads? Does the assault squad have jump packs?

If running a Lion's Blade, you don't have enough terminators for the DW Redemption Force, and as others have pointed out they are probably the best thing to ditch for points.

Next, some transports for the tacticals (and a drop pod for the assault squad if they don't have packs) should probably be the next step.

Gonna throw in my 2 cents and hope it helps.

I'd put the assault squad in a drop pod and drop the lightning claw on the serg. Keep 2 flamers in this unit, maybe add a combi-flamer to the serg. It's hard to get their points back with jump packs and they usually do a great job at toasting some infantry before they die.

I'd give the devastators 4 LC in a 10 man squad. This is mainly because they don't have a transport and you want some cheap bodies to take wounds before you start loosing those expensive LC. Ideally, these guys work great with 2 grav cannons in a rhino which would be something to work towards.

Definitely need more rhinos/razorbacks for the tac squads. Also, you want to give these guys some teeth, melta, grav, etc. If you go razorbacks i'd suggest thinking a while before you start upgrading the stock HB/HF, unless you're running a Lion's Blade with free transports (more on that later). They go down easy and may not be worth the extra 20 points of an AC/LC.

I'd drop the dread nought. They aren't that great of a unit right now. If you do want to keep him I'd suggest giving him the TL LC/ML and let him hang in the back and shoot or just take the stock load out and stick him in a drop pod.

The Ravenwing force you have would do Great as a ravenwing attack squadron. I'd suggest putting Gravguns/Combi-grav on the bikers. Probably the best platform for them since they are relentless and can still fire their TL blotguns at low armor targets. Give the Attack bike a MM and the LS either a MM or AC. Don't forget that in this formation the bikes get +1 BS if they shoot at a target the LS hit.

I hate to say it because they look awesome but I'd drop the Deathwing all together. At the end of the day they just aren't worth the points. There's to much stuff that will wreck their day plus their mobility isn't that good.

I'd also drop the Dark Angel version of the Conclave. If you really want to take it, take the vanilla marine conclave. Its better and a lot cheaper, plus you can put them all on bikes to give them better mobility. I'd have a set role/plan for them to otherwise it might just be a points sink you don't need.

Like everyone else has said the RWSS is awesome. They get interceptor which is pretty great with all the alpha striking cult ambushing shenanigans going on right now. You'r also really close to a Lion's Blade strike force which is pretty awesome. A chaplain and another assault squad and you're ready. I know this is probably a lot but start with baby steps, Like Quanar said, some transports/drop pods would go a long ways.

Always, I hope this helps some! Cheers!
