Hi there ! Your list seems nice to me, looks designed to short ranged combat with all the Vanguards. With that in mind, you'd probably be better hiding them in cover until turn 2 where you'll have more targets available to you. Or maybe screen them with the Dragoons so they can get a cover while diverting firepower elsewhere.

I like all the Dragoons, they're a really good and cheap unit that can hit fast and hard on chosen targets, with their 5+ cover save they're not that easy to shoot off, too. It think it would have been nice to give phosphor weapons to some of them so you could eventually reroll your charge distance, but that's just to be sure, they already add 3" to their charge movement.

I'd just recommend to switch the Icarus array if your local meta isn't full of skimmers and flyers, except if you're willing to do snapshots all the time. The Neutron Blaster is devastating, though.

Putting aside my personal preferences this is a pretty good list for the points level. I agree with Aaranis with the Icarus Array, it's an awesome Anti-Flyer/Skimmer but that's all it can do so drop it for another Neutron Laser if you are unlikely to see fliers/skimmers.

I personally would drop one of the Dragoons for more Vanguard toys (be it bodies, Plasma Calivers or Arc Rifles) I think that would be more effective but your mileage may vary. Overall a solid list.

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

I agree with the Plasma, thinking about it you don't have anything to deal with high armored targets apart from the Onagers, not that they are bad but they'll be far away from the front lines and you might want to have a more mobile option. Now the best deal is to give some Calivers to your Warlord's unit to have the preferred enemy rule to prevent Gets Hot, but in two rounds of BS Doctrines you can reroll ones too.

Thanks a lot for the feedback. I really appreciate it.

Icarus array- my main reason for including it is because I'm new to e area and honestly have absolutely no idea what the meta is here. I just didn't want to be caug unprepared. Am I likely to see flyers at this level? If not then I would definitely switch it to a neutron laser. My plan for no flyers was just to run it up the field and let the cognis manipulator work in CC so it wasn't wasted points.

Serpentas- id like to include them. If I drop the Icarus array and manipulator then I should have enough to add them which I think I will.

Plasma- plasma scares me mostly because it's so expensive. With the help of the DIs I'm not super worried about gets hot but if I put three in the warlord squad that's 90 points and I just don't know that I can justify spending nearly 10% of my pints on three speak all weapons that go on basic troops that are easily killable. I do see the need, I'm just not quite sure how t address it. Would two onagers with neutron lasers be enough?

Also, aren't the carbines effective against high armor infantry due to the high volume and added wounds?

Yeah I don't know much about what you can find in a 1000 pts list to be honest, are motojets considered skimmers ? The Neutron Laser is tested and approved, it will wreck anything but beware as your opponent will try to destroy it quickly.

I get your fear about plasma and I think the same, I only put only one in my list so it isn't so expensive and such a juicy target. 9 plasma shots might be overkill at 1000 pts and you need those points for other things.

The Radium Carbines are great in their potential damage. You need to get a 6 to-wound for 2 auto wounds, but you won't always get 6 on all your shots. The rest of the time it's still a short range, weak and poor AP gun. Its benefits are from the 3 shots and the Radioactive rule. So it's great to do as you did and throw lots of Vanguards, if you're lucky in your dice rolls that a lot of saves for the enemy.
But when I say "armored units" I really mean "armored", as in 3+, 2+ armor saves (and you'll always have to fight marines), you might get two wounds on a 6 but these are both savable. I like Rangers for this reason because their guns are 30" Rapid Fire S4 AP4, and are really good against Necrons, Eldar and all that. I run more Vanguards than Rangers though.

The strenght of the Vanguards is that they can wound any Toughness values if they are lucky, but not any Armor value.
