I know there are some old conversion charts, but what about the new GW Layer paint - Ulthuan Grey?

Is there an equivalent from a different brand? ...I like GW paints but this color is horrendous to work with, just awful. Vallejo Game Color "Wolf Grey" is close but still slightly darker and bluer.

Anyone?

Found this on Vallejo site. On the right side you have a more newly conversion chart.

Ahh ok this is good, thank you.

I already had Ghost Grey (from the old chart) and I was just about to accept that the conversion chart is just not very good.

Looks like its the same as the earlier (and more complete) Vallejo equivalency chart linked at the bottom of the Dakka chart.

Some of the colors are different though... Ulthuan Grey is actually one of the examples where the old conversion was not very good - it had Ghost Grey, the new conversion from Vallejo has Glacier Grey instead.

Again, look at the link below the Dakka Paint Range Compatibility Chart at the bottom of the page below the references:

It list Glacier Blue (not Glacier Grey) as an equivalent for Ulthuan Grey.

Doing some inception linking, it's not the paint chart in the link, it's the paint chart within the link underneath the paint chart in the link

It might be worth mentioning that even though the vallejo chart says "Glacier Blue", the paint code next to it is 046, which isn't actually Glacier Blue it's... *drumroll*... Ghost Grey.

So who the feth knows. If you happen to buy Glacier Blue, let us know whether or not it's a good or better match than Ghost Grey, or maybe you can email Vallejo and ask them.

Paint equivalencies are a bloody nightmare. They're rarely a perfect match, but aside from not being a perfect match they're often quite a lot cooler or warmer which compleeeetely changes how a model looks. I'm sure I've been led astray by paint equivalency charts more often than they've helped me.

I have Glacier Blue, but I don't have Ulthuan Grey so I can't tell the difference. I think is more on the bluish side.
I will try to post a picture later today.
