Hi all,

New to this really, well sort of, I used to paint Warhammer 40k as a kid and decided to have another go over Christmas to relieve some boredom. I don't play I just enjoy the painting.

Here are some of my first efforts please go easy on me, they should hopefully improve a bit as I learn. Any tips appreciated.

I have more of the Space marines to do, and dread nought and a stalker, Im going to leave the larger stuff until last, and poss get my airbrush back out

Welcome to Dakka and back to the hobby.

Very nice batch of Ultramarines there.

I think the highlighting is a little too stark, but that's mostly a preference thing. There are a few places it could be tad more tidy/even, but that’s mostly just nitpicking.

On the topic of nitpicking, the crossed arrows shoulder marking is for assault marines, while these guys have bolters, so are most likely tactical marines.

Minor criticisms aside, you did a great job on these guys. Especially as you are just getting back into painting marines. Solid work, and something to be proud of.

Thanks for the kind words guys. Feels a bit daunting when I have seen so many amazing examples on here I feared they may be a bit Crap lol.

Almost done the next batch of 3 so will upload them when done

Very nice - they look great, especially considering you've been out of practice. If I could offer a helpful (hopefully!) tip, it would be that your highlight lines, more so the most extreme highlight, could do with being a touch thinner (In terms of width, not paint thickness) to help it blend into the blue. Aside from that, a really solid start - excellent work.

PS. The bases are also spot on!

Doing great! Love the classic choice of Ultramarines. Hope you share some more. Maybe move toward a few conversions.

Keeping the hobby side alive!

Newbie painter? You are immediate pro dude, I am sure Guilliman will be proud of you. Can you let me know what brush are you using for those fine edge highlights?

Just one small note not related to the paint. I can see some edges rising from the decals. When you place decals make sure to cut the edges of the decal so it can adhere more easy.

Over all - GREAT JOB!
