What do you guys think, is Commisssr Yarrick worth the 145 pts. Should I just get a LC instead? Also is it worth the lost of the CCS to allow them to be the warlord?

"Enemies of the Imperium, hear me. You have come here to die. The Immortal Emperor is with us and we are invincible. His soldiers will strike you down. His war machines will crush you under their treads. His mighty guns will bring the very sky crashing down upon you. You cannot win. The Emperor has given us His greatest weapon to wield. So make yourselves ready. We are the First Kronus Regiment, and today is our Victory Day. " - Governor-Militant Lukas Alexander, Commander 1st Kronus Regiment

Yarrick is only good for denying your opponent slay the warlord in my mind. Everything else he does can be done better by other selections. Want to issue orders? Buy a CCS. Want to make a squad never flee? Attach a 25pt priest or commissar to it. Want a power fist? Attach a Lord Commissar to something.

Yarrick is just plain bad IMO. He doesn't even have stubborn like other commissars do, meaning if his squad dies around him in meelee, and you lose the combat, he will have no one to shoot and will take massive LD penalties for his morale check. If he flees he's only I3, so he'll get overrun, completely negating his eternal warrior. Lord Commissars cost less than half his cost and grant the same Aura of Discipline. Draconian disciplinarian isn't really that useful either as it only makes squads auto pass morale checks for losing 25% in shooting. For Yarrick's price, you could spam 3 priests and 3 commissars, effectively making 6 units fearless/pseudo fearless all the time. Don't waste your time with him unless you just like him for fluffy reasons.

Ok, thanks. just been going through whoi I want for my personal head commissar (still working on the name) who is supposed to have been a mere commissar, but through faith, a few excutions a civil war on the planet, and massive xenos and heretical attack has secured his position to be questioned by none. Just liked the fact yarrick could give orders, which made sense for my dude fluff wise, but ya. I figured he wouldn't be the greatest. Didn't notice he didn't have the stubborn rule.

I've found Yarrick to be a fun, fluffy choice who has ended up winning me more than a few games due to his durability and str 6 powerfist.

Note that he will never flee a fight and he doesn't really need stubborn. No IG commissar will ever be over-run in combat. This is because he and all other commissars have the summary execution rule that all commissars get (p. 33 of the codex) which means his squad will always pass morale and pinning checks after he or she shoots someone.  This means he is better than fearless since his squad can still go to ground if need be.

I encourage you to proxy him in a few games.

Note that I still take other 2-3 priests and 1-2 commissars for my other blobs.  His aura of discipline doesn't usually help me because his blob is usually way out in front of my army.

Don't forget that he can issue orders. That makes comsuad redundand. I've tried him out once and he won me the game by simply refusing to die. He was kinda the only one left but i've been so far ahead on vp due to early game scoring that all i needed is to not wipe.

Yarrick holds a soft spot in my heart, he was my first ever model. Honestly, his rules aren't super competitive... But hella fun Expensive, but try running him with some Bullgryn. Super fun when they charge in to a squad of Khorne Beserkers... And come off best. Not every time, not even most of the time, but you'll love it when it happens
