Since beams auto hit will my opponent be able to jink Magnus Gaze with his black knights?

Since it's auto hit he would have no opportunity to declare a jink correct?

From the rulebook FAQ:

"Q: A beam attack does not target a unit – can you still Jink?

A: No."

If my understanding is correct you jink when you are targeted for an attack. Because Beams do not target your opponent they would never have the opportunity to jink.

Also I believe it was clarified in a FAQ.

But could you jink if the beam targets the first initial unit?

Beams do not target any unit. They hit models in units, but no specific unit is being targeted. (I assume that this was done, at least in part, to avoid players lining up beams to hit a unit with a bad DTW first, and then cruise it into a unit with a very good DTW, like you could do in 6th ed - Now, the defending player can just DTW with any unit being hit.

Thank you for all the responses guys!

One last quesiton regarding beams and potentially novas.

Are they able to be manifested during Combat? They do not specifically carry the witchfire name in their profile and I was under the assuming as long as it wasn't a witchfire it could be manifested in combat.

Eg, can magnus still beam while in combat?

Thanks all!

As noted on page 27 of the main rulebook beams, focused witchfires and novas are all sub-types of witchfires.
