Okay so there are some gangster decurion-like detachments and cool formations that give bonuses for having vehicles. The additional Iron Hands rules certainly coincide with that, Machine Empathy to name one.

I am looking for a heavily mechanized list that is mobile and fun to play. Not just sit back with a bunch of whirlwinds and spam the enemy to death. Not just plunk down some drop pods behind the enemy lines and go from there. I want to be able to move and maximize short-ish range fire. Can be transports or heavy hitting tanks/vehicles...don't care too much really. Forgeworld available too if necessary.

Keep the ideas coming!

Cheers

There are a ton of options. It’s really a matter of picking one that you like.

You have 3 meta-formations you can go with (plus the CAD) Anvil, Medusa, Gladius. Each will help different parts of your army. Some the tanks, others the troops.

A full company Gladius will let you make a MSU razorspam list. Downside is that it eats up most of your points just to field.

The other formations are probably going to be built on some form of demi co and an armored TF.

Stormlance demi co is a very fast moving mechanized one, feels like what you are looking for. Normal demi co is ObSec, so better at holding ground. They can be build with the same units, so you can swap around.

The armored TF gives you tanks. Sounds like something you want. Mix and Match as needed. If you want that “in your face” feel, Vindicators sound like you. But some preds for fire support, and WWs to fill slots/harass things are also a good idea

One thing about the Anvil SF is that it lets you take units alone as mechanized infantry squads. So while it’s rules might be a little light, it does give you a lot of flexibility.

You probably want to keep most of your HQs on bikes, with squads to hang with as needed.

For the Medusa SF, you want extra ICs to provide the bubble of buffs. A librarian conclave gets you 3. Plus they have some nice tricks on their own.

If you need a CAD to stick in some FW stuff, bikes as troops with a mounted HQ fit well. Or some scouts in a LSS. Which might not be a bad thing to have if you are using some of the formations that don’t have ObSec.

Other Aux ideas:
1st co TF: A LR full of assault terminators makes a great centerpiece to a mech list. Tad overpriced for what you get, but iconic and cool. If you want to take sternguard in rhinos, don’t bother with combis. They will not be ensured the alpha strike, so not worth risking the investment.

10th co TF: Scouts in LSS or on bikes acting a screen for the armored column is very fluffy. Good low cost option that’s not just more tanks.

Suppression/AA force: Just more tanks, but other low cost auxes that do their job and fit the theme.

I could go on. Tons of fun options. But I’m out of coffee, so will end this rambling. Cheers.
