When Angel's Blade came out, one of my first thoughts was "cool, tax-free Librarian Dreadnoughts." However, building an army around them is easier said than done.

So, I'm actually somewhat amused by the idea of running them alongside GK Purifiers. The Purifiers add extra WC, horde control via Scouring Flame, and melee attacks, while the Dreads add a wall that's resistant to S6 (AV 13 front) Give them Fulmination for speed/shields too. The normal issue would be a lack of Obsec, and taking GK tax troops, but Castellans fixes this by letting you take Coteaz and maybe Stormtroopers or so to round off the list.

Could such a build actually work and make two edgecase units together
better than the sum of their parts?

If you want to keep everything with Mastery Levels, the best you can do is the Flesh Tearers Strike Force. The only tax you'd have is Cassor, but he would make an excellent distraction compared to the Librarians and Purifiers.

I had a list I was tinkering with like that awhile back, but it got lost.

I wasn't even thinking of using a BA detachment, just the Chapter Ancients formation from Angel's Blade: 3-5 BA Dreadnoughts, of any stripe.

Oh. That's probably better. I still recommend Cassor as a potential distraction though.

How are you going to transport the Purifiers ?

I'd rather see podded Lib Dreads paired with Nemesis Dreadknights.
Or, if I'm being honest, just take more NDKs instead of Lib Dreads. CC Dreads are too slow to have much of an impact on the game.
Shame BA Lib Dreads don't have access to Telepathy for Psychic Shriek

NDK's are much better than Dreads. This holds if the enemy doesnt bring too many grav weapons.

I think the purifiers are initially there as warp charge till they get into place to deal with hordes. I would personally put them in rhino and combat squad them. But maybe 2 x 5 man in razor back is nice as well

Interested why you think Lib Dreads counter Scatter Laser Jetbikes ?

If because AV13 vs S6, Eldar have the maneuverability to get shots in side/rear arcs, or just plain ignore the slow Dreads.

Not likely to get the angle for the first turn and with the warp charge pool can get across the table quickly and into charge range with the spells at their disposal.

Librarian Dreads roll on Fulmination. 3++ saves, Magnetokinesis, and Electrodisplacement (assuming non-ITC)

Purifiers are WC and Horde control.

To get close to outflank a Lib Dread requires getting close.

Stormtroopers add cover-busting vectors, and a target for electrodisplacing.

I have never been so insulted. I am so much more than just a distraction unit

Even if you pull off something with Displacement, or Shifting worldscape...you've got one chance to charge a single unit with one dread. You'll murder the hell out of it, but it's still just one unit.
Fail that charge and Jetbikes will just turbo boost to the other side of the board. Or not even bother, just move 12+2d6 out of charge range for the next turn.

Meanwhile, the obligatory Wraithknight is popping a dread per turn in combination with Wraithguard and whatever else is on the table.

The best way these dreads 'counter' jetbikes is by getting Fear of the Darkness, and making them run away. You can't even get shriek with BA's.
