Hi Guys

I haven't got the Traitor Legions CSM book yet but i wanted to know some stuff before i go out and spend my hard stolen money on one.

- I have a Nurgle army I want to play as Deathguard and i have a bunch of tzeench boys as well as Magnus, a painstakingly and really quite nice converted Kharn that i love playing with a couple zerkers so i was wondering if i chose a couple formations could i use bits and peices like a Deathguard chaos warband type thing then add in the one with magnus and the DPs from the thousand sons side of things and maybe try squeeze in some khorne guys in one of the other formations.?

Any help would be really appreciated

Kind regards

Ub

Yes and no.

Yes, you can bring in other Legions as allies. The only thing you cannot do is ally in two forces of the same Legion. Each Legion's special rules would apply to the units under that formation / detachment.

No, you probably would not have enough points to bring Death Guard, Thousand Sons, and World Eaters as part of a single force. I am playing Black Legion with an Iron Warriors CAD and it's difficult to fit everything in under 2,000 points.

Make sense?

It would depend on the points for the army you want to build.

You need to be a little careful with wording. as individual formations you can do what you like as they are totally separate.

You can not use an allied detachment because unlike space marine chapters there is no rule allowing you to do this with different legions. But this is very different to having different formations.

Ok but if i wanted to use the world eaters warband detachment and then use some nurgle oblits in their formation and then the magnus and sorcerers formation. would that be allowed? sorry i dont know the names correctly as i dont have the book but Ive seen some stuff reviewing them.

Thanks guys i know it would be ideal if i just bought the damn book but in South Africa not many stores stock them and my local is out of stock and dont want to order and wait a month for it to be Gak

You can always take separate formations & detachment s together. so your example is fine. Buut it's difficult to fit all the good stuff in. (Magnus Especially!)

I don't see any rules allowing for legions to take allied detachments of other legions, so CADs and formations are the way to go.

Yes you would be allowed to take the 3 separate formations and still be a battleforged (bound) list.

How many points were you thinking of taking. Off the top of my head I think you are looking at about 2000 there as magnus is a big points sink (he is bloody good though)

I would do DG and WE. Leave Magnus at home. He requires about 20 warp charges himself just to make use of his casting. You wont have points for that. Unless you just want cool models on the table then go for it.

Casting on 2* means he won´t needs that many dice considering his first cast will be the blessing that gives him an extra dice for every successful spell cast within 12-18"

He is a god.

Cast on 2s. Can´t peril. One of the new blessings on the psyker lets you gain a power dice for free every time someone successfully casts the any power near you.

Get 2 - 3 of your casters getting this off and the number of extra power dice could sky rocket all the time making your opponent think about denying these spells because he doesn´t want the extra dice to occur.

On average an army list with magnus in should be getting about 15-20 + D6 dice minimum to start with. Him casting it on his own on maybe 2 dice and getting 4-5 dice back.

Sounds pretty brutal the casting on 2+ is amazing but i feel like the psychic phase might take ages, What is that blessing for the extra dice in? is it a relic or something? or just a tzeench power?

Tzeentch power. Siphon magic.

Pretty cool spell, though hard to use properly and requires a tzeentch focused high level sorcerer to make the most of (Magnus definitely applies)

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.

Yea, but ahriman does not cast it easily, as he has no familiar, so you need to invest big to assure it triggers, and then it's harder to get it back.

well he would need 4 dice rather than magnus´2 dice.

Ahriman gets 1 back straight from magnus doing it after. then a few blessings of force around the units to get their blessing buff and they both get it back
