Well, it had to happen sooner or later.

After an extended hiatus due to long arsed commute five days a week, I'm putting aside some weekend time to get back into playing 40k. Crux came last week when I realised I'd been in my current job four and a half years....all that time with precious little gaming,

My local club uses a Working Men's Club as it's base of operations, and it seems they're happy for us to use it more or less whenever - so I'm setting up a series of Sunday games to get me hands back on the tiller.

Coming up? 29th January, 3,000 points of Heresy Era Iron Warriors against whatever. It's the same force I'll be using later in the year at Warhammer World, hence wanting to use it to familiarise myself (it's also on a theme, a theme which precludes some of the snackier Heresy toys). It's also the force I intend to paint the majority of the preceding week, as I'm taking it as annual leave.

Opponents allowing, I'm hoping this will turn into at least fortnightly sessions, ideally against a variety of opponents and army types - and with each session loosening up the training wheels somewhat. For the first few, they know to 'go easy'. The early games are all about me re-learning the rules, with more exotic stuff being added as we go along (and someone is going to get on the wrong end of my Ordinatus at some point....)

So seeing as I last regularly gamed under 5th Edition, does anyone have any pointers or tips?

Working mans club? Is that like a Gentlemans club?

Sorry I can't be of use for any pointers. I am not good at 40K. Maybe have a cheat sheet or what not that has all the tables and what not on a few pages for ease of reference.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

Quite the opposite it's basically a cheap pub, members only. Which is nice. Grew out of the union movement. I assure you it's not a location where we ever risk not being able to see our dice for the strippers
