In the Chaos Space Marine codex, Chaos Space Marine Bikers have the option to replace the twin-linked Bolters on their Bikes with Special Weapons. Since most CSM "armory options" are written as "the champion may replace one ranged weapon with" or in other similar terms, I've usually seen it argued that a Chaos Lord could, for example, replace his Bike's twin-linked Bolter with, say, the Burning Brand of Skalathrax. Would this be a correct assumption?

Also, the Warpsmith has Mechatendrils, a piece of wargear that contains a biilt-in Meltagun and Flamer. Suppose, hypothetically, I wanted to replace the Flamer with a Combi-Melta, would that be legal?

Or, suppose I was screwing around and wanted to give an Alpha Legion Warpsmith the Hydra's Teeth, could I subsequently replace both the Warpsmith's Pistol and Flamer with Combi-Bolters, and turn said Warpsmith into a makeshift Chaos Wyvern?

The Chaos dex says, "A Chaos bike is fitted with a single twin-linked boltgun." That means that there's a piece of wargear that has a bike/boltgun. You can't split it up. Doing that would be equivalent to splitting up a combi-weapon into its bolter and plasma parts and trying to replace the plasma bit with the Brand.

Same idea applies to Mechatendrils. It's one piece of wargear. You can't strip the AP3 off a power weapon and give it to a bolter.

Actually, the CSM bike datasheet includes specific permission to exchange the built-in bolter for a plasma, melta or flamer. So you can indeed split the bolter from the bike.

Quick answers:
No.
No.
No.

The options you are allowed to swap out (if any) are noted in each entry. For example, the CSM bike datasheet includes specific permission for two Chaos Bikers to exchange the built-in bolter for a plasma, melta or flamer. It is not the bikes, but the Bikers that are swapping weapons. Note there is a specific profile for Chaos Biker and one for the Chaos Biker Champion. A Chaos Lord is not a Chaos Biker, so he can't make the same trade. He can trade in his CCW or pistol for the Brand, and then get a bike (with a TL boltgun that can't be traded).

But only to exchange for one of the three items listed. You couldn't trade the bike's weapon for a Relic if it were a character on a bike.
