I'm debating between two choices for an HQ.

A. Catacomb Command Barge w/ vanilla OL
or
B. OL w/ Phase Shifter (4++) and Voidreaper (Melee, S+2 [making him S7], AP2, Armourbane, Fleshbane, Master-crafted, two-handed)

I'm torn because:
- With option A: PROS I really like D6 HoW w/ a Heavy 2 Gauss on the Barge and effectively having 5 wounds CON He's a stand alone unit and could die before I even get to use HoW.
- With option B: PROS He would attach to a unit of 10 Lychguard riding a Night Scythe -- and 4 attacks on a charge (S7 AP2 Armourbane, Fleshbane, Mastercrafted) makes him a BEAST CONS No range weapon (since Voidreaper replaces the Staff of Light) in an Army that's known for mid-range shooting.

***Catacomb Command Barge has no points to work with for add-ons
*** OL would have 58 (Phase Shifter: 25, Voidreaper: 30)

on the forum. Obviously

I would place him in the lychguard squad. It would be harder to kill him, and if you going to want to go into melee with him then not having a ranged attack is going to matter.
That said, it would be more of an investment. 5 scytheguard + transport would be a bit hefty.

The staff of light is only 12" range anyway. That's not mid ranged, that's short ranged. You might as well charge at that distance.

I'd take the Lord on foot. Although if you really want to make the most of the Voidreaper put it on a Destroyer Lord (or join a Destroyer Lord to the Overlords unit). Fleshbane and Preferred Enemy are great together.

Oh yeah, the reaper is better on the destroyer lord.
He is deadlier overall, and is much better suited for offence.
