We all have memorable games...
I'm not talking about when cheaty little johnny cheese monkey knocked your rare oop metal giant off the table.
'm talking about those games that just were amazing fun and you will always remember them for the good time you had.
Was your favourite most memorable game a win, loss or draw? Tell me the story if you can!

Ancient Space Wolves Venerable Dreadnought
|
It always sucks to lose but my favorite match was a loss to Orkz.
Game - The Relic with Mysterious Objectives.
I win the roll off and order my opponent to deploy first, banking on a 2+ to steal the initiative - I fail in spectacular fashion; The dice bounces off terrain and knocks Bjorn over, if managing to knock a Dreadnought over with a dice isn't ominous I don't know what is, adding insult to insult the dice lands on 1.
Rune Priests in Heralds roll in Biomancy, Divination and Sanctic Daemonology - Biker Biomancy priest scores Enfeeble and Warp Speed. Divination Priest scores Forewarning and Scriers Gaze. Biker Daemonology Priest scores Hammer Hands (YAY) and Vortex of Doom.
Orkz turn one.
After I stand Bjorn back up and my opponent finishes his fits of laughter.
My opponent deployed with the belief that he'd be getting assaulted by Wolves in the first turn pushes up a trukk of Boyz and a painboy up to cover his Bikers as they bag the Relic Boyz unload from the trukk to create a blockade as the bikes use the shooting phase to scramble the relic back another six inches.
Stompa launches Rokkits that hit Biomancy Priests and accomplish nothing. Boyz open fire as well, Heralds drop their BS to 1 and Ork player curses, then laughs as he rolls nine 6s out of ten dice for the Sluggas and a further two sixes for the trukk, then manages another ungodly roll to convert all eleven shots to wounds.
I laugh and proceed to roll 2+ armour saves and 6+ FnP, failing miserably.
Rune Priest brushes first failed save then loses two wounds and snuffs. Wolf Priest saves two wounds, brushes one and bites the dirt as well. Iron Priest hides behind Cyberwolves who also take dirt naps and the Iron Priest survives.
2nd unit of bikers cut down the Iron Priest giving first blood shooting to the Orkz.
Wolves first turn
Wulfen murderpack rolls 6 on the hunt table, sending rocking Alpha Hunters and boosting the Daemonology Heralds and Skyguard a free 12' and Divination Heralds a free 6'.
Murderfang arrives behind enemy lines in Lucius Pod and stays onboard.
Wulfen Pack 1 scrambles onboard the empty Landraider.
2 Rhinos flanking a LandRaider use their Ironwolves movement boost to try and squish some boyz. Both Rhinos have to make it across some terrain to stay in formation but they got free Dozer Blades - no worries! Four ones later they're both stuck on shrubs.
Thankfully the Skyguard are happy to pick up the slack and fly over the Boyz. Landspeeders make haste up the flanks towards objectives.
Psychic Phase - Divination Priest makes good on Forewarning and Wulfen pack 2 gets 4++ Invulnerable saves. Daemonology Priest scores Hammerhand.
Shooting Phase - Rhinos dislodge themselves from shrubs, Boyz escape from under the LandRaider. Wulfen Run closer, the Skyguard throw a frag grenade into a minitide of Gretchin and Murderfang removes two of the Bikers holding the Relic with his Heavy Flamer and predictably enough manages nothing with his Storm Bolter. Once again the dice gods voice their hatred as the first Landspeeder fails to put a dent in the Trukk with two krakk missiles and the second misses the bikers holding the relic with two frag missiles.
Assault - Daemonology Heralds make for the Stompa and its fearless ability, Wulfen pack 2 Charges Boyz and the Skyguard take the fight to a squad of gretchin holding an objective. We spent about ten minutes slinging insults and challenges.
Boyz and Gretchin turn into a fine red mist but the Stompa grimly hangs on against the Daemonology Heralds, losing only its four power fields. First Blood Melee to the Wolves.
Secured Objectives are revealed and Orkz are holding both the bloody three pointers in the backfield. Skyclaws'objective is a lowly one pointer.
Orkz turn two.
The bikers move away from Murderfang's pod and a second and third unit of Gretchin jump out of Trukks to encircle Murderfang's pod. Cheeky cretins want to break the pod so Murderfang is stuck inside and removed as a casualty.
A fourth unit of Gretchin move to save their Stompa from the Daemonology Priests.
Shooting - Finally a round of Orkish shooting means the Orkz only remove a few Skyguard.
Assault - the Gretchin units atrack Murderfang's pod, Murderfang snuffs three Gretchin with his Heavy Flamer. The Gretchin swarm makes combat with the Daemonology Heralds only to find out that the Heralds still have Hammerhands in effect and the Skyguard use Counter Charge to get in on the action. We spend another ten minutes slinging insults and challenges, the Stompa survives thanks to the Heralds all being characters. Blasted Gretchin unit ICs succeed in breaking Murderfang's pod without exploding it and Murderfang gets removed.
Space Wolves turn two
Wulfen are too far away for the Curse - Reserve roll for Longfangs failed.
Movement - Bjorn and the Divination Heralds continue to get left in the dust so spread out to capture objectives and hold against Linebreaker.
Both Rhinos head for the relic and unload their bloodclaw cargo and the landraider shuffles further torwards the Stompa to do the same with its Wulfen. The Wulfen that made mincemeat out of the Boyz and the Skyguard shift forwards to make a charge into the fight with the Stompa and Heralds.
Psychic Phase - Divination Priest applies a 4++ save to his unit as well as Prescience. Hammerhands goes off but perils for a Warp Surge "Boo Yah!!!".
Shooting Phase - Landspeeders and Landraider all target the Trukks blowing three of them away. Bjorn notices the second squad of bikers and plants a 24' Helfrost blast on them, removing one. Rhinos open fire on the bikers, removing the last two, the bloodclaws both make runs at the relic but fail miserably at getting in capture range, fours would do it, I rolled a one and a two.
Assault Phase - Skyguard change their minds and Charge a squad of the Gretchin that destroyed Murderfang might as well learn them some manners - gretchin kill one more Skyguard in Overwatch. The two Wulfen packs make their charges into the back of the Gretchin. The squads of Gretchin and the Stompa finally got put down, sadly I lost my Warlord in the fight.
Orkz turn three
Rolls for reserves and gets another squad of Boyz in a trukk and the Orkz warlord (wait you mean it wasn't the Stompa?), they immediately disembark right on top of the Relic, securing it.
The last group of bikers snags linebreaker.
And the judges call time.
Orkz
Relic
Seven points in objectives
First blood shooting
Linebreaker
Slay the Warlord
Space Wolves
Two Points in objectives
Small victory in kill points
First Blood assault
Linebreaker
The Ork player in question was just really good fun to play against.

Nurgle Predator Driver with an Infestation

Apocalypse game. My team ended up pulling off the victory but just barely by the threads of our shirts.
It was 15,000 pts per side, forces of evil vs good. 5,000 pts of my at the time word bearers army back when demons were still part of the regular csm book, 5,000 pts of my buddy's dark eldar, and 5,000 pts from another buddy's iron warriors vs. 5k of eldar, 5k of iron hands, and 5k of guard. We had one chaos warhound Titan on our side and several defensive fortifications from the IW player, they had 2 eldar titans(one revenant and one "warlock-phantom"), 3 warhounds, and a Baneblade.
The game began at 12pm and didn't finish until somewhere around 4am. It was a battle of epic proportions and I will never forget that day as it was all for a friend(the eldar player)'s birthday party! Now, I had not thought we stood a chance at taking down all those titans AND a BB but somehow we managed it! After hours and hours of back and fourth death and destruction it turned out to come down to the fact that I had 45 bloodletters who would just come back at the nearest table edge after the unit is wiped out and that plus 4 bloodthirsters and 4 daemon princes ended up being our sweep through to finish off the game! Probably the biggest highlight was their final Titan standing had 1 remaining hull point and it ends up dying to a friggin melta bomb! Hahahahaha that game was truly epic and I had no idea we even stood a chance at winning how we did!

Krazed Killa Kan
|
Don't really have a particular "That Game" which is the most memorable but I do have a few memorable games that are both wins or loses.
My memorable Ork games tend to be wins including
- A game where in a called shot (called it that the warboss would put to shame the 40 failed shoota boyz) hit, wounded, they failed the save, and failed the grounding check on a flying daemon prince. Everything else was fairly uneventful but when a Warboss knocks a Daemon Prince out of the sky with his Twin Linked shoota, you know things are going poorly.
- Game where 6 Killa Kanz beat the snot out of a Daemon Prince in CC over the course of 4 turns after they already made it rain pain on some nurgle bikers (killing over half of them) using grotzookas. Upon killing the Daemon Prince the Kanz waddled down the field to smoke some more MEQs and nearly wiping out some Obliterators.
- Game where my Orks tabled my friend's Dark Eldar by turn 2 (95% with shooting). Never seen so many 3+ cover saves failed for Raiders and so many explode results on vehicle pens. The Orks suffered minimal casualties.
Memorable Tau game was a Horrible lose but had a Fire Warrior pass a leadership 4 check to stay locked in combat with a 1 HP Knight, the Knight made 1 hit in melee but rolled a 1 on the D table, the FW hit with an EMP grenade, rolled a 6 on the EMP roll which made the Knight go nuclear, it scattered off into some ruins which gave the FW a cover save from the blast letting him survive. That FW was one of 4 models to survive the game (other three where a Crisis Suit and two other Fire Warriors). Game was a gak show where the very first move of the game was my Piranha immobilizing itself. Railgun Hammerhead was 0/3 to hit that game (once was a miss at something like BS7) while most everything failed to be remotely impactful and armor saves failed like crazy. Fusion Crisis Suits all failed to do anything to the IKs through either missing horribly, failing to armor pen, and generally failing reserve rolls so the showed up turns 3 and 4.
Space Wolf game I remember the most was losing because I forgot to put a 600+ point formation on the table in a 1850 point game. It was a very "why does my army seem so small numbers compared to the enemy?". Hard to call it a true lose when I had over a 1/3 of my army not in the game using a very casual list.
Nothing stand out a memorable for the GKs/Inq army.
