Hey everyone ,
I was hoping you could give me some feedback on this list my partner has come up with for her skitarii.
We are both making list to play against each other and against the local wargamers , and we are trying to make it fun and balanced.

Everything is subject to change except from the five ruststalkers.

Skitarii Maniple:

Rangers ( 5 ) - Arquebus

Rangers ( 5 ) - Arquebus x 2

Ruststalkers ( 5 )

Sydonian Dragoons ( 3 )

Onager Dunecrawlers ( 3 ) - Heavy stubber x 3

Many thanks

Let's work from the top down, shall we?

Two groups of Rangers. I'd keep the one with two Transuranic Arquebi (Camp an objective with this unit, the sniper rifles are great and the Arquebi are horrendously great). But I'd swap the other unit out for Vanguard, they're more flexible tactically and better suited to advancing into the mid field. I'd take ten of them and give them Arc Rifles, or if you make the leader your Warlord give them Plasma Calivers to avoid most of the Gets Hot! rule.

One unit of Ruststalkers. I'd keep them with the Chordclaws and Mindscrambler Grenades. These are a good flexible unit, mostly suited to hunting heavy infantry but they can take tanks with all their Haywire capability (Mostly will be used to destroy a transport to get at the unit inside). They also have Invulnerable saves (Yay!) but don't get too confident with them because they are still T3.

Three Sydonian Dragoons. I've got to say, at this points level I'd keep it at just two and spend those points on some Vanguard. Three Dragoons are very scary in larger games, but at 800pts they just won't see enough action to make all three necessary.

Three Onager Dunecrawlers. Again I'd say a little overkill, I personally would drop the unit down to two (Or take two separate ones) and upgrade them to Neutron Lasers. See that tank? Now you don't. I know that they lose the benefit of being in a full squadron but I do think that two Neutron lasers would serve you better.

I've left a lot of the points balancing to you, but those are just my thoughts on your list. Hope something in there helped and welcome to the Mechanicum!

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

Hello there ! Like the previous poster, I'd say you may have too much vehicles in your army at this point range.

For the infantry I'd keep the Arquebii unit too, they're good and can even destroy light armoured vehicles. AP3 and Sniper means they'll wound these Marines on 4+ without any armour save which is nice to pick up that Missile Launcher or Flamer Marine. Make a Vanguard unit out of the other, I recommend making its alpha your Warlord as well so you can use one Plasma Caliver in relative security (Doctrinal Imperatives still gives you two turns of rerolls thought), more may be overkill as it's already 30 pts for the gun. But an Arc Rifle may be welcome as well, your unit will be very flexible. Give him a refractor field to have a 5++ save that will save him, he's still potentially able to get ID with that T3.

If you drop a Dragoon that'll give you some spare points to perfect your infantry. I'd leave the Dragoons with their lances, I personally never had much luck with the Radium Jezzail. Giving them Phosphor Serpentas may be a good idea if you have the points.

As for the Dunecrawler, If you keep them in the same unit I'd use the same weapons on both, and I recommend the Neutron Lasers. For 25 pts per model you have a 48" S10 AP1 blast weapon, that comes included with a Heavy Stubber as well. With two of these there's a chance that unit you just shot at may not exist anymore. Bonus points if you blow up an enemy vehicle in one shot and kill the guys around it. If you run them as two groups then keep a Neutron Laser but maybe equip the other with its base weapon, large blasts are still nice to mop up mobs or these Necron Scararabs he'll send at your Dunecrawlers to prevent them from shooting his guys.

I don't know how much spare points that would give you, but in any case my advice is to buy refractor fields to all your sergeants, it's just 5 points and may be the only thing standing between life and death for them. Love your soldiers and they will love you back with good rolls.
