honestly I'm just wondering if it would really be much cheaper to buy materials and make your own, and have them look as good...or just buy some of these?

...but if you're deadset on DIY, then you'll probably at least want some 1mm plasticard sheet for the blades, and some...2mm? plastic rod for the handles...and of course a hobby knife and some glue. That will get you your basic "long curved blade on a handle" deal....to really emulate the official ones though, then you'll need to dress them up a bit, so, some plastic tube, probably 3mm? 3.5mm? something like that, to fit around the 2mm rod at the top where the blade goes, and for the little generator that powers the blade...and probably some guitar string (and some needlenose pliers to bend it) for cables...and just use more 1mm plasticard sheet for the handguards...it'll probably be fiddly work, but you should be able to get pretty close to the real deal....but as I said, you'll have to weigh up whether the cost of materials+build time is worth it vs just buying the FW ones...

I would buy the FW ones but the upgrade pack you poster only comes with 1 terminator one(bigger scythe and a bigger hand) the rest are meant for PA marines.

Thanks for the input! That's about what I was thinking would be needed.

oh wow...apparently I didn't pay enough attention to that FW page! sorry about that, I had just assumed it was a set of five terminator scythes, intended for use with the calth/prospero terminators...I didn't even know you could really give scythes to regular pa dudes...that pack seems a bit daft to me now

well in that case...hope your scratch-building goes well!
