AOS the chaos gods have been doing this for a long time.
Another interesting note is that in the pantheon short story sigmar wonders perhaps some higher power put him on this path. He would of rather die as a mortal King.
Also the gods from the warhammer world were once mortal also but their old world was destroyed by chaos. They are pretty much refugees and in the short story sigmar calls the incarnates divine refugees from the warhammer world.
Exactly. This is something that I want to mention when I speak at greater length on the godbeasts and/or the realms, but
AoS draws even more heavily on Moorcocks influences than the other two major games: the realms are basicall the... well, realms, of the Sword and dragon (I think it was this name) cycle, while the stormcasts are flawed but mass produced versions of the eternal champion. There's more into it, but I digress.
Did an edit in my last post about tzeentch and funny enough people on the grand alliance forum do also agree that
whfb and
AOS more so is inspired by moorcock.
One last point I want to add in the pantheon short story it also reveals the edges of each realm essentially leads into the realm of chaos. Just like how the north of the warhammer world also lead into the realm of chaos. The difference is that random bits of land are made and latch onto the realm to expand it. But the most important point is the similarity aspects and it was through this that chaos first began corrupting people.
