General questions about the functionality of markerlights

Codex states "A unit cannot benefit from its own markerlights"

Does this mean
A) A single model with eg a multi tracker cannot first shoot a markerlight, then a follow-up shot with eg pulse carbine expending the token (Fire Warrior Shas'ui in a strike team, for example)
B) Any models in a unit cannot benefit from markerlight hits by other models in that unit (Half a Pathfinder team shoot their markerlights and the others shoot their carbines, for example)

For B I am assuming I'm not missing a rule that states a unit cannot fire different weapons at the same target

Also, for when I've figured out how to shoot them, when I score hits against a unit with markerlights, do they
A) Affect the unit of models as a whole (So I can consume 1 markerlight to get 1 more BS against a full squad of 10 orks)
B) Affect Individual models (So I would only gain additional BS against individually marked models, needing 10 markerlights on 10 models to increase my squads BS of 1).

I know A seems OP but B seems incredibly UP, especially when compared with the FAQ on markerlights and combined fire:
"For example, if you expend one markerlight counter on the Pinpoint ability, all units taking part in the Coordinated Firepower attack would add 1 to their Ballistic Skill for shots directed at the target of that attack.’

The rules definition of what is a unit can be found on page 9 of the main rulebook under the heading 'Units'.

I'm actually so stupid I didn't bother to check the BRB, sorry :(

So both A & B of the first example would be impossible, but Example A in the second question?

A in the second question is correct. One markerlight expenditure allows you to fire one unit at increased BS against the entire markerlighted enemy unit.
