Hey Dakka;
Looking for some help regarding a start up for Dark Eldar.

Have only ever played Imperium armies, exclusively, and while I love the aesthetic and full of the Dark Eldar have never had the finance nor balls to try them out.

-Until now. I'm looking for my next painting challenge, and was eying up a bloodbowl team... when the pre-order for the boxed game for DE popped up!!
£35 for 6 reavers and 10 Hellions? at that price I'll take 3.

Totalling 18Bikes and 30Skyboards. for £105. What. A. Bargain.

anyone able to help me figure out loosely how many points this works out at? using only the wargear that you might expect to find?

also, any hints as to loadouts for efficiency would be GREAT

Well Dark Eldar are one of my favourite armies so i approve if you want to start them. But with only reavers and hellions you can't play 40k, they're both fast attacks and you need an HQ and two troops as mandatory choices. Also hellions are among the worst units in the codex, the new box is a bargain because reavers are awesome and their box is expensive but you need at least an HQ, 2-3 venoms and a box of kabalite warriors to play. About reavers wargear, every three bikes take a cluster caltrop. Other upgrades are not that good, you can take lances or blasters but since those bikes are going to jink all the time it's probably a better choice to run them with their standard weapon. Avoid the character upgrade too. About hellions i don't know, i never played them.

Okay thanks man! Heard a lot of gak about Hellions being bad, I thought their speed and a mass of them in low point games might redeem their asses?

Long time 40k player btw, I know how a CAD works, tbh I was gonna play unbound until I could flesh them out some...

Hellions are just not worth their points if you are trying to make DE go the distance in any sort of competitive setting. There is always something better (more reavers, venoms, even scourges spring to mind) that you could be spending those points and FA slots on. But for fun, I mean go for it. They are cool looking models for sure.
