What are your thoughts on this?

The new cannoness is on a 32mm base, so is it acceptable to put regular sisters on them, too?

Not sure, i bought a devastator squad and they just came with 32mm bases. I was wondering if i could put my lord on one.

Did some research and it says GW said the 32mm bases were just for aesthetic purposes. Not sure though..

The rulebook itself isn't really consistent. Basically you put your miniatures on the bases they came with. You might choose differently, though, as long as it's appropriate to the model type. A Battle Sister model is infantry, so are grots and ogryns. So any base from25mm to 40mm would 'be appropriate', though the 40mm would be stretching it.

To get to the point of your question; 25mm and 32mm would be fine. The Battle Sisters are infantry, and they wear power armour. A cannoness is a Battle Sister and a Battle Sister is a Battle Sister.
The effects of the differences between 25mm and 32mm bases (such as the footprint of the unit, and squad coherency and blast vulnerability, for example) have been discussed in a couple of other threads.
