I'm currently building a couple of Emperor's Children Rhinos and I'm looking for inspiration for how I can jazz them up a bit.

I like the idea of them using their vehicles as altars of sorts but so far all I've really come up with is tentacles creeping out of back/top hatches (too cartoony imo) and flayed green stuff corpses hanging from the sides (too Night Lordy).

I've read all the Horus Heresy novels regarding the EC but I was wondering if there were any other books which depict Slaanesh worship (preferably in excruciating detail).

Literally no idea about Slaanesh worship when it comes to Rhino decoration, but your idea of making them like altars would work nicely if you put a plasticard plinth on top and painted it like marble.

Are you going for a 'Slaanesh is god of rock & roll and sexual deviancy' angle, or a 'Slaanesh is god of perfection and beauty'?

Marble plinths with altars on them would work nicely for the latter, especially combined with your tentacle idea if they look like there's creepy warp-ness simmering under the gilded exterior

Get some of the bondage chicks from the manufactorum minis in the N&R section, put them on top of it, maybe a couple old noise marines with the guitars, and some of the sonic icon bits from the vehicle upgrade sprue? Or, if you're REALLY good with freehand, a nice mural of Fulgrim would be perfect; excessive art is still excess.

as for like specific ritual, i would say it would vary from plant to planet and cult to cult, i assume slaanesh would eagerly steal the worship from the sacrificial diety of some feral world's natives. far as CSM are concerned, besides the obvious noise marine snorting a line of space cocaine off the body of a demonette, theres glutonny so can arrange like a feast with a bunch of food with a couple grotesque paintings, seeing cultists feasting on a gourmet dinner on top of a rhino during a freaking space marine battle, as if its a theatrical play, would be pretty cool. espiecially if a couple of them were dead from stray bullet lol

I recall a passage in the classic "Realms of Chaos" books that talked about Slaanesh worship in the Old World (Warhammer Fantasy). It talked about every feast held by nobles that reveled in excess, every extravagant party, every self-congratulatory parade for a planetary governor was pleasing to Slaanesh and thus a celebration of his/her ways. While the sex and rock&roll angle is popular, there's lots of ways to embrace excess.

In reference to 40k Emperor's Children... My rhinos are painted in the standard pink/black, but all of the doors and hatches are painted with contrasting animal print patterns (zebra stripe, leopard spots, etc.). It makes it look like trashy clothes. I also add bits of faux black leather and pink faux fur where I can to "spice it up" a bit. I rarely bring the army out without someone making a comment.

And when it comes to Slaanesh, any comment is a good comment. Even "Ugh, that thing looks hideous!!"
I smile and say, "yes, yes it does". :-)

Basically anything to deal with excess. It's not helpful in a specific way, but t can open you up to different ideas. Most people go the 'Sex, Drugs, and Rock and Roll' or 'torture' route. But the truth is, Slaanesh is the goddess of excess in all forms, think of her as the great temptress. So, if there is anything in life you've seen that makes you think of a perfect example of too much of something, you could go there.

By way of the 'excess' Slaanesh also has a major angle on the overtly 'evil' aspect of Chaos. As the newest Chaos god you also get the opportunity to horn in a bit on the imagery you'd associate with other gods as she's sort of spreading her niche out.

Torture is an easy one, where Khorne is very much about the overt violence and bloodshed for it's own sake, to do so to impart suffering on the victims, and despair upon the witnesses is very much Slaanesh.

Revenge too, priests, sisters of battle, grey knights, or really anybody who's not surrendered to them could be strapped to the front of a rhino and forced to watch it be used as a weapon against their comrades, or maybe chained to the back and afforded an opportunity to drag their feet and try to slow the unstoppable machine down in some completely inpercievable way, until they at last succumb to despair or exhaustion and collapse, to be dragged to death.

And just because I'm listening to Dio's Magica album... maybe a bunch of imperial citizens turned to stone but kept aware, mounted on the roof of a sufficiently big tank while a daemon consumes their minds at its leisure.

Just off the top of my head.

I recall there was a HH audiobook I listened to while painting about the knights of Molech, they were corrupt by the cult of slaanesh.

Tentacles on Rhino looks stupid, try more BDSM or perfection outlook. Look at dark eldar bits for conversion, give cultist whips and such.

Slaanesh is the god of excess in all forms, including excessive minimalism, and excessive dakka. Maybe just add moar bling. Excessive tackiness.

Worth to notice Slaanesh represent pleasure to the extremes so lots of avenues can be taken.

Gluttony on itself can be portrayed as big bloated fat corpses eating anything even their enemies as Cannibalistic followers.

Art like Hemonculus style, where several victims are used as display or as materials for paintings and canvas make fit the theme too.

Or just can resort to BDSM like most of people do.

Check out Hellraiser, Pain is pleasure, taking it to extremes is what Slaneesh does, like the scene in Blade 2 in the party where vampires where doing extreme body modification, they are slaves to stimulus

Ropes, candles, blades. Draped cloth. Random gloss splashes on the hull.
