Hey everyone. A small project I've had planned for a while and thought I would look into getting it started !

I have a bunch of Space wolves sprues. I quite like the feral look of their minis. I just think I would prefer them on the side of chaos ! So I'm planning to build and paint them up as chaos wolves, maybe based on Skyrars colour scheme and such.

Now I've been out of the game for a fair while and I see there is a plethora of chaos stuff running about
My question/s is/are which codex for chaos would best suit? I think I would quite like to run thunderwolf cavalry models at the very least. So what would these double as, juggernauts? I initially thought that maybe that khorne bike/hound list could be good. But now I hear world eaters have special rules too?

I'm basically just spitballing ideas and would love to hear what ideas you guys might have. Thanks

Well, thunderwolves as juggernaut means you can only use one or two as Lords, as you don't have any non lord juggernauts (why not is beyond me)

World eaters from the traitor legions book are very good (require codex csm though), they hit fast and hard. I think they will make a good fit.

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.

+1 to idea of World Eaters. Arguably the best CSM Legion right now.

If you wanted to use a Loyalist codex to represent them... White Scars. Use Thunderwolves in place of Bikes and you have an insanely powerful army.

Na, there is no argument that death guard are on top.
Nurgle CSM were always the best CSM. rare is the event of another mark being better, and DG just amplify it.

World Eaters are pretty damn good as well though, unquestionable second place.

Wht not just use the Wolf codex, but say they are Chaosy?

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

Why do you have to say that? They're already basically heretics.

I'm really not sure why I never thought of using the Wolves dex. Is it pretty brutal in the way chaos can be? As in combat wise?

Wulfen and thunderwolf cavalry are possibly the strongest cc units in the game. They also get +1 strength power weapons as "frost weapons". Their hq's are also all pretty good in cc frequently having bonuses while in challenges.

Yes.

Maybe mount guys on khorne juggernauts and say it's thunderwolf cavalry.

Just ask your opponent if they'll let you swap out Space Wolves Tempestas, Biomancy and Sanctic Daemonology disciplines for the Daemon special rule.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

Why not just use TWC as bikers in a DG list.

What ruleset to use really depends on how you want the army to operate. I'm building a 'Chaos Space Wolves' army myself, and depending on how I feel, it could be fielded as a Space Wolves, Khorne Daemonkin, or a World Eaters army.

With all the upcoming AoS gryph models, it would be very easy to make a Tzeentch themed list as well. But the SW codex is probably the best option.

because DG has precisely what in common with the space wolves?

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

You could run then as a contingent of Space Wolves overcome by the same plague that overtook the Death Guard and turned them.
