Im doing a very imperial looking alpha legion army, and was trying to disguise some forgefiends and maulerfiends. I was thinking about converting a dune crawler to look vaguely imperial but modified. Any examples that you can think of you have seen that are not immediatley recognized as obviously demon engines till its too late/closer? warhammer 40k mmo. If I can drive an ork trukk into the back of a space marine dread and explode in a fireball of epic, I can die happy!

What about one of these, with guitar string whips coming out of the arms?

The Alpha Legion, especially the untainted renegade ones, aren't exactly the type to use massive daemonic siege engines like Forgefiends.
Perhaps you could run them with the loyalist space marine codex and simply use some of the big mechs they have at their disposal.
You could paint the forgefiends the colours of another legion and pretend your Alpha Legionaries were helping your opponent fight them until you stabbed them in the back, Isstvaan 5 style.
You could shave off all the spikes and Chaos stars and make the fleshy parts look more mechanical so they simply look like some obscure Mechanicum robots.

I'd go with Dreadnoughts. a forgefield could easily be represented by a mortis-style Dreadnought, and a Laulerfiend could be one with lots of close combat attachments

Neat idea
I've always wanted to do an Alpha Legion warband that's infiltrated an Ultramarines company. Everything standard Ultramarine, but all the Sergeants and suchlike have a little Hydra logo hidden somewhere on their person...

Your Dunecrawler idea could actually work pretty decent if you wanted to make it. The key would be making an extension of the weapon mounting so you can fit your weapons of choice in place. You could use less Grimdark weapons, like Blood and Skulls' Gatling cannons, to represent the Hades Autocannons.
Blackhair, you're mistaken, he wants to use the Rules, but he's looking for conversion ideas to make "Counts As" that lack the whole Demon Engine effect.

I've been looking at other option for the Forge/Maulerfiend route myself. Dreadnought has already been mentioned, but I would go with a Contpemptor Dreadnought instead. The Fiends are daemons, so they are going to have an Inv save, same as the Contemptor, and it looks like a machine that would move with 'Fleet' like the fiends do.
A dunecrawler is also possible, but since you are wanting to make it look imperial and all, going the 'mini-Defiler' path that I am considering won't work. So it would work best as a Forgefield, arm it with several assault cannons to account for shooting of 2 Hades Cannons. If you really want to go Maulerfield, you could probably go with some of the Robots.
