Inspired by the Dakka monthly challenge (which has gone on for 2 years now, wow!), I hereby present the one year challenge!

The concept is this: You have until the 1st of January 2018 to do... something. By this I mean anything painting or modelling related: A diorama of the Normandy Landings, a single Space Marine, an Armies on Parade entry or something else.

Only rules are: You need to post a pic of the unpainted components (models, green stuff, terrain etc) as proof that you've started doing this now. Post proofs now, the finished product in december, and we'll all vote for our favorites. No special themes.

I definitely think I want to be involved in this, but I think I'll have to have a good think about what I want to declare as my "proof"....I'm currently working on 4 armies, and I know that I could, and probably will, radically switch obsessions between armies at least once or twice between now and the end of the year...

last year for example, I started the year absolutely mad for nurgle daemons - I painted a full "start collecting" box, a daemon prince, and a metal gw great unclean one...ordered 2 more start collecting boxes, (and I haven't touched them since....febuary/march I think?)...then I converted and painted a couple of rhinos for my nurgle marines...then picked up on my orks again, painted a couple of hq's for them...then I joined up on dakka at the start of may - pretty much every month since then, I've been doing some big flashy ork thing for the monthly painting challenge.

...as for right now, I'm pretty obsessed with the 30k/40k salamanders space marine army I'm starting...I have a load of stuff for that that I need to, and right now really want to paint up for them...but, I still have a load of nurgle daemons I want to work on...and a load of chaos marines stuff I want to work on (including 100 zombies and at least 50 marines that I want to convert, and a bunch more stuff)...and of course there's the ridiculous backlog of ork stuff I have sitting about...

...so...do I just go with my salamanders, because that's what I'll probably be working on right now...and risk suddenly wanting to work on a different army in a month or so?

...or, heck, could I just round up alllll of my unpainted stuff, lay it all out for a few pics (might need to rent an abandoned warehouse for that ), and just see what I can get done from that over the year?

...actually, now I kinda want to lay out all the unpainted stuff I have all in one place...I'm kinda curious to see just how much stuff there is ...although...that could also just make me want to use my paintbrushes for kindling

Or a cool vehicle, I've just finished a 80% scratch built ironclad dreadnought so maybe try a beautiful forgeworld tank next...

I'm in. Going to work on converting 3 celestant primes from AoS into "counts as" dreadknights for my heresy era loyalist thousand sons sect I'll be playing as counts as grey knights but converting the models from the AoS starter box stormcast eternals and various thousand son-esq bitz like heads and khopesh force halberds etc. may only end up converting 2 of them into dreadknights, and the third may become a daemon prince that is a guy "ascending into daemonhood". So my goal will be to get all three celestant primes converted into their respective duties and also to hopefully convert the rest of the army as well. So I'll say to convert my stormcast eternals models into their respective roles!

Wellllll I need to finish my snap fit space marine project. Have only done a tac unit , cypher, tecmarine , two servitors and a chaplain. Still have a lot if them.... So looking to do some assault marines some scouts and maybe attempt some sterngaurd, yes from snapfit marines #crazy

Yeah, put up pictures whenever you want! Put up proof pics first and I'll put them on the first post. Finished photos, submit them around November-December.

I present WIP:Imperial Stronghold "Coerulus Anser Outpost"

I have done some work on the Comm Array section last year, But the rest of the building is still unprimed/not here/inmail.
It will be on a 24"x24" square tile. The first tile for my gaming table. If the comm array is an issue, ill just leave it off for the finished pictures no worries.

I'm in...so I'll say a 6'x4' table worth of Necromunda/40K terrain. I've already established the mat and the acid ocean coast-line.

I don't own anything yet, so this will be a project for the year.

Well this seems like a good opportunity to get some of my smaller projects done

I'll be working on my Secreta Secretorum Strike Squad, aka converted Grey Knights based on the videogame EYE: Divine Cybermancy, which consists of 6 Marines and their two support Drones. I'll also turn a Genestealer I have lying around into one of the game's enemies, namely a Manduco.

Also, as a smaller side-entry, I'll try to get my two Ork Tankbusta's and their Boss Nob painted

I'll throw my hat in for this. I'm going to submit for my 2017 armies on parade entry.

I have no idea what it will entail as of yet, but I'll post pics etc. When I have a more refined idea!

I'm in. I'll paint my Sylvaneth/Wood Elves army.

This will involve painting 5 Tree-Revenants, a Treeman Ancient, a Wyldwood, a Waywatcher, a Waystrider, a Spellweaver, and Drycha Hamadreth. Plus basing a dozen dryads, and potentially painting any other stuff I buy for it, which will almost certainly be three Kurnoth Hunters, probably either 20 more Dryads or 20 Glade Guards (or both!) and, if I'm honest, quite possibly an Alarielle as well. And a couple more Wyldwoods. Good grief.

Maybe I'll just try to paint what I already have.

Just a quick update with everything I've done in January:

I got the base part of the towers actually glued and green stuffed together. the bastions are framed. green stuff still curing. ill update with photo in a day or so. I have been working on this the past couple of days.. been so busy with my garden that i havnt really done much else this year.

I Need 3 more upper decks of the bastion kit though. (so ebay here i come in a week..)

Ive got the two reactors put together and primed.
Have a ton of spru that will be using to support the rear of the building.

Gi heli pad primed.

My one year target is more quality.
I want some models that push my standards every further and look amazing on table top or on my desk.

So it begins, first full fancy character model larger than a terminator.

Looks like ill be focused on this until the end of the year. Still need a few bits.. but i can get started putting paint on it
